⛽ Bali’s got a petrol problem ⛽

But what’s going on?

▪️Here’s what’s happening:
Petrol stations across Bali are running dry, and the ones with stock have queues spilling onto the roads, some hours long.

▪️Why the shortage?
Pertamina says a shipment arrived late and delivery schedules changed. The stock is there, it’s distribution that’s the issue.

▪️What we know so far
📍 Worst hit: South Bali, but empty stations are everywhere
🚢 Fuel ships due 12, 14 and 16 October
⏳ No official date yet when things will be back to normal

▪️How to act
✅ Don’t wait until you’re on empty
✅ Only buy what you need (panic buying makes it worse)
✅ Leave extra time for airport runs, as traffic is worse and drivers are harder to book
✅ Stick to essential trips, or walk where possible

Have you found petrol today?

WHAT IS THAT?! 👀
We took to the skies to see for ourselves… and yes, the new Uluwatu road is very much real.

After months of “it’s never happening” and “it’s a myth”, here’s what we know so far:

🛣️ WHERE IS IT GOING?
The first section goes from Uluwatu Temple → Kulat → across Bingin hill → towards Dreamland, where it currently stops.

📅 WHEN WILL IT BE FINISHED?
We spoke to the developers – this first section is scheduled for completion by 21 December 2026.

🚧 WHAT ABOUT THE NEXT SECTION?
That part is still in progress. There are signs of roadworks on Puri Gading and Balangan, but the exact route beyond the first section hasn’t been fully disclosed.

🚘 WHAT WILL THE ROAD LOOK LIKE?
It’s planned as a four-lane highway in most sections, with a central divider — think Sunset Road, but in Uluwatu.

➕ THE PROS:
• Could help ease congestion in Uluwatu.
• Bypasses the steep GWK hill, where countless trucks have rolled and killed road users.
• More direct access to Uluwatu instead of funnelling traffic through smaller roads.

➖ THE CONS:
• Large areas of Green Zone have been cleared.
• Quiet local villages are now surrounded by construction.
• Some brand-new villas face directly onto the highway.
• Dust, gravel and construction traffic for months ahead.

So yes… the road is real. 👀

But whether it makes life better or worse for Uluwatu? That’s a much bigger question.

What do you think about the new “Uluwatu Ring Road”?
