On #throwbackthursday we present you with a #blackandwhitephoto of artist Gao Shan sketching a portrait. Gao is an accomplished oil painting master who has been devoted to the recreation of Mogao cave paintings for 30 years. A vegetarian who used to practice Taoism, Gao distinguishes himself from other Dunhuang artists with his philosophical approach to his art. His works were exhibited in Japan and in the U.S. Huayuan Art will present 8 pieces of Gao's Dunhuang cave painting replicas for the upcoming @artexponewyork fair at #Pier94 next week, April 14th - 17th. #oilpainting #artistoninstagram #workinprogress #dunhuang #cave #mogao #painting #art #artist #creation #tbt #photography #photooftheday #silkroad #huayuanart
