Just 8 months ago, I couldn’t fathom these paces for more than a quick sprint. Now, I’m holding those paces for miles, and what used to be my threshold pace is becoming my average over entire 8.5+ mile workouts. Insane. Consistency, consistency, consistency. It pays off.

Long Run FriYAY!!! 🏃🏼‍♀️
.
With Hurricane Isaias heading towards the Gulf Coast late this afternoon/evening bringing us a ton of rain and wind, it just made sense to get some extra miles in today 😁
.
Not to mention, @kierstenpannell was doing her LR, too, and we all know running with friends is the best 🥰
.
Tis the season to fuel with all the candy! 🍬
.
I feel like candy corn is a love or hate candy, but clearly I'm a fan! The best way to eat it is mixed with peanuts. Try it and LMK what you think 💁🏼‍♀️
.
Other fun things from the week...
.
We have so. much. kale!!! It's been great to pick some fresh every day for us and to share 🥬
.
I restocked our creatine 💪🧠
.
Back patio dinners have been happening more often 🙌
.
And Kara and I are off to ATL for some fun plans 💕
.
Cheers to the weekend 🎉

✨ Te ayuda a ganar y mantener músculo si entrenas pesas.

❌ No te pone "grande".
❌ No necesitas carga.

Building muscle as a vegan🌱 How to get 180g protein on a plant-based diet‼️Trying to show you that you don’t have to get rid of EVERY food that you enjoy in order to make progress. I get blood results taken every 3-6 months and everything is well within range or in an optimal zone. Macros = 179g protein, 82g fat, 391 carbs, & 56g fiber. 100+% of daily iron goal, 100+% daily potassium goal, & 100+% daily calcium goal.

Most recent prospective, randomized, double blind, placebo controlled scientific studies in peer reviewed literature all point to whole food plant based nutrition as the only one that has been proven to reverse things like heart disease🌱

Below are some studies of common misconceptions about eating a plant-based diet. Don’t listen to random influencers, do your own research‼️

Plant protein vs animal protein - https://consensus.app/papers/details/fc00478b4bc0532cb2073636115a5ce0/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=clipboard

Seed oils - https://consensus.app/papers/details/3c2a4c9aef565a1fbf3c518af1f4a614/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=clipboard

Soy - soy products contain phytoestrogen and isoflavones which do not disrupt your hormonal health like many people believe. There is more hormone affecting estrogen in cow’s milk.

I always tell people that the iron is the best teacher because it never lies to you. 💪🏼
.
Pumping iron in the gym helps you build a strong body, but it also clears out all the negative thoughts in your head. 🧠
.
When you focus on your reps, you realize that your mental strength is just as important as your muscles. 💯
.
Stop making excuses and start putting in the work today because you are capable of so much more. 👊🏼
.
Keep pushing your limits. Stay hungry for success and never let your mind give up before your body does!

GETTING HUGE 101 🍳 🧬

My last meal as a 250LB bodybuilder:

My routine 1 hour before bed 😴

10g Glycine helps with lowering body temperature and sleep quality

30 ml tart cherry concentrate contains melatonin and plant compounds that help support sleep duration 💤

2 large kiwis to help with falling asleep faster and sleeping longer 🥝

• Omega-3 EPA/DHA especially DHA supports sleep quality and also can help you fall asleep faster with consistent use 😴🔒

Last meal of the night:

2 whole eggs + 250 g egg whites
150 g sourdough + 45 g old-fashioned rolled oats + 200g strawberries + 15g carbs from rice cakes + 20g all natural peanut butter

Whole foods are the foundation of my nutrition during off-season growth phases. Protein powders are convenient but don’t let them replace most of your meals

Before bed I prefer a filling mix of protein, carbs, fats and fibre. The whole eggs sourdough and rolled oats keep me satisfied through the night better than cream of rice and a protein shake/ whey drip 💧

Building size takes consistent nutrition hard training and recovery. Make every meal count 👈🏼

Save this for your next meal idea 📌

Who isn’t looking to Better their sleep… ? 🛌💤

Nutrition can play a pretty big role in supporting sleep!
Overall calorie consumption matters A LOT! And as we have to touched on before.. Underfuelling negatively affects sleep. 😴😴💤

But there are some other strategies that may work for your better sleep vibes. ⤵️

⚡️ Tart Cherry Juice - very high in antioxidants which can protect against some exercise associated stress. (Use strategically not every day, for performance benefits!)
Also high in melatonin (sleepy hormone).

⚡️ Kiwifruits - rich in serotonin, folate, melatonin and antioxidants.
Green is more researched option for sleep (bonus it also has more fibre , but yellow kiwis have more vitamin C ! - eat both 😉)
(PMID:37242157)

⚡️ Carbohydrates (contrary to what you may have heard carbohydrates can actually help you sleep!) Carbs increase insulin, which can influence tryptophan availability.. (potentially supporting both serotonin and melatonin pathways) = better sleep.

⚡️ Magnesium Glycinate- 200-400mg, 30-60 minutes prior to sleep can aid in better quality and duration of sleep. It is gentler on the stomach. magnesium supports the sleeps natural sleep regulation pathways !
‼️If you already consume enough magnesium through dietary intake, additional supplementation will not provide extra benefit (PMID: 30200431)

⚡️ Making sure your not having caffeine to late in the day, as it can disturb sleep (stays in your system a long time)

And many more factors contribute to over all sleep quality.

* everyone responds to nutritional strategies differently, these are just some examples of what could be beneficial for some !

Personally, I found 2 kiwifruit before bed helps me fall asleep and stay asleep for longer ✅🏆 so that’s my go to 👏🏻💪🏼 what’s yours ???
