This is a behind the scenes video of my process while working on sound design for the @kith animated comic in collaboration with @marvel and @capcomusa

I worked on this sound design project in FCPX… not a traditional sound design app by any means. However, I’m very proficient at it and after years of editing, my muscle memory of all the shortcuts make the process so much quicker. This allows me to not think about the technical aspects and just focus on the creative part.

Sometimes the best tools are the ones you’re good at, because at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the end result.

@djpplus thank you for trusting me with these projects year after year 🙏

Incredibly talented team that created this:

Thrilled to share that #GoneVR is an official selection of @fivarsstories, taking place June 25–26 at OCAD in Toronto! This will be Gone’s Canadian premiere, and I couldn’t be more excited. Massive thank you to my many collaborators :)

Come experience the world of Gone — with unforgettable sound by Chandra Bulucon, and featuring Richard Mitchell’s haunting digital tree (as seen in this post!).

With deep thanks to our funders: Canada Council for the Arts, Picture NL, and ArtsNL for making this possible.

He hears it again—low, relentless, familiar. ‘Frequency of Fear’ is now picture locked. Huge thanks to our post-production team: editor & colorist Ryan Forneri, composer Anthony Cozza, VFX by Prasanna Paul, sound design by Chandra Bulucon, and sound editing by Chandra Bulucon & Mateo Palmisano. Your work brought the static to life.

Another fun sound design project for the @kithtreats x @topochicousa collab. You can really see how much power stacking sounds can have at crating a compelling audio landscape. We actually worked with 2 song options to go on top of the sound design, however the final consensus was to let the sound design stand alone. Do you think this was a good choice? Let me know in the comments. Cheers!

Big thanks to @djpplus and @cultiv8co for having me on board for this project!

Raising a glass to the incredible talent behind the scenes of ‘One More Time’! 🎬 From the meticulous editing finesse of Ryan Forneri to Mandy Woo’s emotive compositions that tug at the heartstrings, and Jorge I Vasquez’s spellbinding viola melodies that add depth and emotion to every frame. Let’s not forget Chandra Bulucon’s expertly crafted sound design, re-recording mix, and sound edit, weaving together audio layers that transport us into the heart of the story. And of course, the visual magic brought to life by Vasylyna Shudryk’s exquisite color grading. Last but not least, the enchanting original music crafted by Daniel Beiko and Cameron Earnshaw that serves as the soulful heartbeat of our film. Together, they’ve transformed ‘One More Time’ into an unforgettable journey on screen. 🌟

I made it to Texas! Today is media day and am I showcasing a prototype of my VR film/experience GONE VR at SXSW via Telefilm Canada’s Canadian Innovation Lounge at the Fairmont, March 10th- 12th in Austin. #canadasxsw #xr #dreambigger #sxsw #filmmaking #immersive #canadianartist #artsnl #canadacouncil #newmedia #canadianart #contemporaryart
⭐⭐⭐
I have been working on GONE VR for over three years (!) - and it has been extremely technically challenging - kind of like flying a plane as you build it. To get it to a place where I can show a part of it it to the public feels miraculous. Massive thanks to Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des arts du Canada and Picturenl for their financial support. Thank you to Mary Sexton for coming on as a producer! And my wonderful pipeline builders at DCXIX, Infinite Frame Media for their amazing photography of the Tablelands, their volumetric capture of my performance, Jakub Proszowski for his beautiful animations, and Chandra Bulucon for her stunning composition. Thank you @philstaubin for the beautiful trailer. 🙏🙏
⭐⭐⭐
GONE VR is still very much a work-in-progress. This cinematic VR film brings to life the imagination of a post-apocalyptic world through a high fidelity virtual environment that combines volumetric footage; 360° camera scans; photogrammetry; and 3D animation in Unity’s HDRP render pipeline. Using the Tablelands of Gros Morne Newfoundland as a background for a strange land where anything is possible; GONE playfully and philosophically explores aging; existence; and the future of humanity.

🙏🙏🙏

GONEVR was performed utilizing the land and I would like to respectfully acknowledge the territory in which it was filmed, as the ancestral homelands of the Beothuk and the island of Newfoundland as the ancestral homelands of the Mi’kmaq and Beothuk.
