10 years. 10 projects.
EPs and a mixtape that changed my life (y ojala added some fruit to yours).

At the time each song felt like me trying to survive whatever life was throwing at me and asking of me.

Some of these songs were written during the recession, navigating college as a first gen student, and a complicated divorce with a child I learned wasn’t mine. Others were written during financial and romantic insecurities. Under full moons, near community, gardens, y barrio. Others during Covid, solitude, and the distance of friendships due to the lockdown and internal community fighting. Others navigating a new relationship, marriage, and becoming a father. Never allowing any project to compound on the efforts from the previous due to major life changes that were global at times but mostly personal.

Every project was released while I lived in Chicago. The songs took me all over the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. I made new friends and lost old friends in the span of a decade. Many believed in the work, many believe in the work. Now, as I process leaving behind my 9-5, friends, and family to come to Puerto Rico to finish my album, I’m realizing that every grief, joy, and risk is in this album I’m making. That every version of me, every lesson, everything is present in ways I never thought!

Mil gracias por acompañarme en esto! La vida de artista es llena de tanta riqueza and enlightenment in a word that applauds outcome and metrics over process and becoming. In a word with no artist development or depth, but more so viral and marketable. Yall are here and after 10 projects (which ever project was your entry point), I promise to give you my first full length album soon 🫶🏽😘 abrazos 🫂

Pulled this out of the stack today and was a pleasure to revisit. Upon further inspection realized that it was signed by the man. Damn I’ve had this for 20 plus years (think I got it from Cesar at the Chelsea flea market) but never noticed the signature. What a nice latent surprise. That font as well!

"When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow." -Ursula K. le Guin

A night of sound, light, and shadow in an altered space, without the limitations of normative nightlife. We created this event in order to clear some space out for our city's dance community to enjoy an immersive experience where people might feel more free to be themselves. We hope that this will serve as an opportunity to strengthen bonds and add momentum to Madison's amazing music scene.

LIVE DJ + NATURAL WINES: TUE 5.05 // 7.00PM // NO COVER

⏰ Doors & Wine Bar Open: 3PM
🎶 Live Music: 7.00PM
📍 11 N Allen

We're amped to be hosting DJ and record collector Leopoldo Bello for Collective Mental Note!

This is a soireé, perfect for those who crave conceptual spaces, interesting wines, non-formulaic music, counterculture, art, and cosmopolitan vibes. Collective Mental Note is a place to practice deep listening and immerse yourself in John Carpenter's Dark Star universe. Here a *no-phone life* is possible.

Leopoldo Bello's original compositions have been released on vinyl by independent labels. In the early 2000s, he founded SantaLaDiabla and Barrabar in Caracas, Venezuela. Later, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago featured his work to complement an exhibition, and he hosted a three-year residency at Dorian's, one of Chicago's premier jazz clubs, renowned for their Hi-Fi sound system.

"My mission is to curate spaces for deep listeners (and those learning to listen deeply). Spaces that celebrate non-commercial music, *Slow-Life* philosophies, and mindfulness-whether through analog experiences, digital detox, or the sheer power of a shared groove. "

As usual, we'll be pouring natural, organic, and family-owned wines - available by glass, flight, or bottle! In our cooler, you can find a selection of craft beers, sake, and N/A bevs.
