Passerine album arrives, at last, tomorrow, Friday 10/23. I cannot imagine feeling any better about this recording, the sound and the spirit we conjured together. And then all the work down the line to honor, preserve, and present all that sound and spirit. You have to have the right humans and a degree of good fortune at each step to bring it all the way home, and in this case I believe it worked out beautifully. I’m taking this moment to sit with a whole bunch of love and gratitude for the band, @davidleonsmusic @smithches @kennydotwarren our recording engineer @aaron_nevezie at @bunkerstudio , mix engineer @elicrews at @figure8recording , mastering engineer @scott_hull_mastering at @masterdisk_nyc , and @adamhop and all at @outofyourheadrecords . And of course @nathanjamesleatherman for the photography and videography. What a team…what a blessing. Here’s a snippet from the closer, “Fly,” which is a send-off for our older son, Maceo, upon his departure for college a couple of years ago…

Not too long ago I was privileged to have a 19-piece orchestra record my score for @abobb’s sci-fi film, Drifters (out now on @watchdust). Working closely with orchestrator @joannecomposer we turned this music 🎵 into something magical. Thanks to @zeuspictures1 for making all this possible, to @bunkerstudio for their great space and engineers, all the musicians, and to everyone who worked on helping us all get it past the finish line!

NOTHING will ever replace the emotional highs I get from live, human music-making. Long may it live! 💫🎶💪❤️

My first single “Dawn” has been out one month!🌅 Thank you to everyone who has listened and encouraged me as I begin this era of my career. I have SO MUCH coming down the pipeline that I’m excited to share, and this really is just the first step on what I plan to be a LONG journey.
