@animeink_con I just wanted to hop on here and address all the recent talk about this convention. I’m not here to bash anyone’s work or talk bad about a show— but there were so many bad feelings I’ve had since day 1 of the show. We’ve drove 10 hours to Virginia and put everything we had into our tattoo over the 3 days. Focusing on composition and creativity from the moment we designed our tattoo. I honestly don’t think the judging was fair or followed any criteria. Especially for being the best of the show I think a tattoo needs to check all of those boxes. Since we are smaller name artists, it’s hard for us to have a voice compared to artists with hundreds of thousands of followers. We were tied runner ups for best of show. For the ones who don’t know, the best of show trophy was revoked from the winner for using AI and because he made hateful comments towards women and artist in the industry. As a father to 2 little girls it’s disgusting to see those comments and behavior. I’m honestly glad they’re taking action to fix this. @bunnymachine

I think we deserve a fair shot at best of show. I hope they will clear things up on how they will go about this and if there will be any criteria for judging. Win or lose it’s about the principle. It’s the integrity of us artists and the future for conventions and shows. I hope you guys can share this post in hopes of spreading awareness for our tattoo culture.

Hey guys, I’ve stayed silent about this I’m not to good with drama and voicing my opinion on things. But anime ink has been cancelled and I wanted to say a few things on the matter.

But first anime ink was a place I always loved and I can say that genuinely meeting my favorite artists, entering competitions, and embracing anime culture entirely has felt like a home to me. And I’ve always felt love from being there and I’ve made so many friends from this convention I’ve been going since 2020 and I’m so thankful it’s been something I’ve been able to experience.

I’m sad to see this drama, and see that anime ink has been now cancelled. The AI, videos of people causing harm, the hatred. As someone who’s grown up with types of abuse being around, it’s not okay to see this online that you can wish harm on someone especially a woman,I want my wife to be protected, I want my mothers to be protected all women need to be protected and not feel like they have to be scared of harm such as physical, verbal, mental abuse. Anime ink was owned by @bunnymachine and still comments such as harm were made. Any woman that comes to me to get tattooed is want them to feel protected, and safe.

Simply to put it… protect women, and love them, don’t support any harm in any type of way to them or to anyone.

Besides that the AI usage at the con I was sad to realize and see around the booths one thing I adored about the con was how the originality was protected until recently with AI I’ve been to other conventions with AI banners, stickers, etc. And I was hoping this wouldn’t be another convention that would have let that in.

I don’t stand with hate, I don’t stand with AI, I don’t stand with any ANYONE that voices, or chooses to harm any woman. And I’m so sad to see this convention go.

For years I’ve been going to anime ink and I’m sad to say goodbye to it. Thank you for the years. And don’t Support hate. Love and support each other.
