You’ll find great food, casual vibes and one of the best tap lists in town at San Diego Brewing Company. Tucked into a little pocket between Friar’s Road, the 15 and the the 8,, this is a superb lunch spot that might just have you staying through til dinner.

The Shanty
Cardiff is home to one of the all-time great beach dives, The Shanty. Quaint, authentic and full of characters, this is the perfect spot for a post-surf pint or a game of pinball. Or, if you’d rather soak up some more Vitamin D, you can also chill out on their patio.

The Silver Spigot
If you want something a lot divier and aren’t afraid of drifters with switchblades, then head to Bay Park and check out the Silver Spigot. This is an iconic dive that lives up to its reputation. It’s dirty, it’s dark, it’s frightening, in all the best ways. If you get a pickled egg there, sent me a picture.

You might not expect to find a fantastic brewery sharing a wall with an animal feed store, but that’s exactly what you’ll get at Burgeon’s The Oasis in Escondido, an aptly named, friendly little (and I stress little) bar that has some of the best beers anywhere and a comfortable, outdoor space that’ll make you wanna buy some chickens just for an excuse to come back.
