Womeninstreetvienna is back from summer holidays and we’re starting this week with an amazing selection by @cr8aphoto , who sent us this beautiful photograph made by @burkecar . @cr8aphoto - Carolina about her choice: With some many photos on the web, I personally appreciate when someone makes an extra step and gives us different perspectives of the street. Caroline uses the mirror to frame the main character and in addition an arrow sign to direct the eye of the viewer. It is creative and thoughtful. Those little details are what make a great photographer today. Thank you Carolina for sending us your « coup de cœur » and supporting women photographers!!! Happy New Year!! 🥂 📸 🤩 We are very excited by the upcoming 12 months and especially because of all the new adventures that are awaiting us. But before we dive into these exciting destinations, we like to celebrate the ones from last year. The Misteri Procession in Trapani, Sicily, is one of the oldest and most moving Holy Week traditions in Italy, dating back to the 16th century during Spanish rule. It was introduced by religious confraternities and guilds, who used sculptural groups to teach the story of Christ’s Passion to the faithful, many of whom could not read. Today, the procession features twenty intricate wooden floats, known as the *Misteri*, each representing a specific moment from Christ’s final hours. What makes the Misteri Procession truly unique is its length and intensity: it lasts around 24 hours, winding slowly through Trapani’s historic streets. Each float is carried by members of traditional trade guilds—such as fishermen, bakers, or carpenters—who have preserved this duty through generations. Accompanied by mournful brass bands and moving with a distinctive, swaying rhythm, the procession creates an atmosphere of deep emotion and communal devotion.
