POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you’ve run into me over the past year (actually more than that), you know I’ve been grinding away at the production of 12 murals and installations as part of a project called Heart of Kensington Creates, a collaboration between the office of @councilmemberquetcy , @impactservices and @muralarts. It’s been A LOOOONG journey but working with all 14 artists, @marangelimr, and @nadia_ahmed_malik and the Porch Light team (what’s up @mattomezsko !) was a true blessing. Thank you all soo much!!

If you’re interested in hearing more about the processes and inspirations behind these works (poorly and partially pictured by me above) particularly from the artists’ side of things, join @conradbenner and I this Tuesday (10/27), from 6pm-8pm @ehcphilly CORE Community Wellness Center, for a conversation with this incredible group of makers (in no particular order):

@jczerbe89
@tainasisters
@distoart
@busta.art
@lindafernandy & @martolao_
@mrieders
@paolojmorales
@thesepinklips
@lazybeamarte

**Note**Due to due scheduling and location conflicts @knomad.art @raelis @symonesalibstudio & @kiliallano will be unable to join us. They will be missed.

Speaking begins at 6:15pm. Seating is limited. RSVP in bio. Hope to see you there🎃

Had a great time at @tcnj.alumni Day, bringing alumni together to create this 16-by-4-foot mural. It was special to make a piece people could connect with and add to. Thank you to everyone who came through and made the day memorable. I’m proud of what we created together! #TCNJ #AlumniDay #LivePainting #HighChroma #leonrainbow

How long does a mural like this take?

The actual painting took about a week to complete.

A lift made the larger areas easier to reach.

Some tricky slopes near the entrance meant bringing out a ladder too.

Leon and @busta.art split up different parts of the mural.

The community also joined in, with students and volunteers helping paint.

It became a collaborative process from start to finish.

Room No. 4 is where vibrant nature meets bold artistic expression. 🌺🖌️

Inspired by his Colombian roots, artist Jose "BUSTA" Bustamante fills this space with native plants, rich color, and graffiti-inspired elements. With a comfortable bed surrounded by color and energy, it’s a stay that feels just as memorable as the art itself.

Searching for the lost culture of hip-hop…
@aerosoleon @busta.art created this mural for the @2buckinvitational in Louisville, Kentucky. We brought together classic graffiti lettering, a city ruins background , kids representing the next generation searching for the culture—and finding their place within it.

Hip-hop is more than music or style. It’s history, community, creativity, and knowledge passed down. If we want the culture to survive, we have to teach it, protect it, and keep creating.
