Dear ones here is a chance to participate in an artwork while channeling your grief and rage about the on going genocide in #gaza I have made this painting from @butterphoenix words and it needs thousands of red fabric poppies at the bottom to represent all the lives lost in the last 6 months in #freepalestine🇵🇸 please inscribe names of the martyrs or prayers into the flowers if you so wish and mail them to me at Xenana Projects, 154 Scott Avenue. #317 Brooklyn NY 11237 please and thank you. It might offer a way to mark your pain and let it mingle with all of us raging and praying for this #genocide to end. Thanks so much 🙏🏾🙏🏾✊🏾✊🏾💓💓🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🍉🍉🍉🍉 FREE FREE PALESTINE #contemporaryart #painting #socialpractice

Found some great photos of legendary poet Suheir Hammad! She broke down a lot of walls and genres with her poetry. Here are few from the days of poetry readings. #suheirhammad #poetrylegend @butterphoenix

1: Suheir visiting Brooklyn College

2: Benefit for Afghan Children when @aaww_nyc was located in the basement of The Gap (the night ended with a Knight gifting the organization $5000) with Annemarie Jacir, Suheir Hammad, Tara Bahrampour, Bruna Mori, the late Meena Alexander, and me.

3: Suheir signing books after the event.
4: Suheir, me, Kimber just before Suheir went to read at an event featuring Nawal el Sadaawi

5: L-R Ipeleng Kgositsile, @karengoodmarable @butterphoenix and @jessicacaremoor at the first Yari Yari African Women’s Conference at NYU (keynote was Maya Angelou)

Iranian born artist Siah Armajani chose to trace over every word in the New York Times on the the 1969 space landing. That is how I discovered
that June Jordan was one of precisely two women out of 32 thinkers quoted on that historic day. It also makes this hard to read. Can someone make it out? #junejordan #junejordanschoolforequity #moonlanding #nyc
