Can you tell I enjoyed this project?? Highlights were
- flying in a helicopter to take photos,
- meeting Irene in my studio- showing her my progress and the various other projects I have on the go,
- attending the opening of Marble Cape Town,
- listening to copious amounts of audiobooks while drawing in my studio- including ‘Francis Bacon in Your Blood’, ‘Dune’ (again) and ‘Das Boot’.

Drawing nature and architecture have a special place in my practise- looking forward to more projects like this in the near future.

I was approached by Irene Kyriacou of the Marble Group to create large scale drawings for the new Marble restaurant in the V&A Waterfront. My starting point was circling the harbour in a helicopter early one morning with my camera and sketchbook. I was fascinated by the majestic, cathedral-like shadows thrown by the ships and harbour cranes onto the water’s surface. Back in my studio I created 3 compositions on my iPad that combined unusual angles with multiple perspectives.

The interplay between architecture, machinery and nature creates scenes within scenes and stories within stories. In shades of blue, the drawings simultaneously evoke movement and calmness.

The restaurant opens to the public on 1 December.

We have been sitting on this one for a while now and we are finally able to share it!
We recently had the pleasure of working with our friendly local retailer Woolworths to create some visual content for their screens
In the Woolworths Beauty Department at the newly refurbished Waterstone Centre along with our partners Butter Represents.

Here’s a look at the final art as well as some initial research and development.
