POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

shout out to my girl @tiffyleebarker who let me crash in on her plans to move to nashville after graduating college. we found an apartment downtown on 5th and church street and made the move from starving students to starving musicians. i remember when we first rolled into town…we weren’t able to get into our rental because of the time and so we slept in the car. we didn’t have furniture and only brought what we could fit in the car. i honestly slept on an air mattress for years. but i didn’t mind because i was living my dream. building from the ground up. and i had a mission…to change the world…one song at a time. we found jobs as nannies and servers at chili’s. later, i started teaching piano lessons.

it was in nashville where i learned the craft of songwriting. i met and was influenced by so many creatives. some took me under their wing and some i was lucky enough to collaborate with. it was in nashville where i gained the courage to join writers rounds and performed on so many stages and where i sat at the feet of hit songwriters. it was in nashville where i sold my first songs to tv/film and heard one of them for the first time on the radio while working at chili’s one day…and it was in nashville where i took on the name iris.
important side note: it was also in nashville where i learned what real bbq was, where “you” changed to “y’all,” and where i fell in love with fireflies and fried okra. but back to music…

for years you’ve known me as iris. this name carried family history, beautiful memories, songs, stages, friendships, and dreams that changed my life. a chapter that shaped me in so many ways 💜

looking back through these memories makes my heart melt with gratitude for the journey and for every one of you who has been a part of it.
iris will always be a part of my story.

as you know…i’ll be moving forward under my given name. 🤘

queen britney jkjk

britney elizabeth holman the first jkjkjk

it’s britney holman 🤗

the name may be changing, but the heart behind the music never will. thank you for believing in me then, now, and in this new chapter. i can’t wait to share what’s next and to keep changing the world one song at a time with you. 💜

I had no idea who any of these kids were. I just showed up on behalf of myself & @thefindlab supporting @buzzardsandbees and their Goth Prom as we had opened our Provo space just 4 months earlier. We wanted people to see our event space which is over 4K sq ft AND to have kids know who we are. Are these kids really goth? Is there some secret underground goth community who aspires to do evil? Absofuckinlutely not. Just some Provo/Orem kids tryin to have some fun on a Friday night outside of Swig/Crumbl/In-N-Out. Think of it as a second Halloween or an excuse to dress up. Utah is real good at making 2 holidays out of 1 (HELLO PIONEER/PIE & BEER DAY July 24th). Allegedly, the guy on the far left shot that one guy. And I only found this out because my dms exploded on Sept 10th asking how I knew this guy. How do I know this guy? I don’t! The bigger question is how in the hell did you find this photo?! Then at the same time Candace Owen put out some piece saying there’s some crazy underground Goth Community in Happy Valley who collude to do “crazy” things. Bruh it’s Provo & Orem. Orem’s official title is Family City USA. Don’t come at me with anything/opinions about this Mr. Kirk. I got opinions and I’ll only share em if ya come at me. I’m sharing this photo because yesterday a dear friend’s kid’s friend asked if I’d ever taken someone who’s famous’ photo. And I remembered this. Infamous. And let’s be honest this is a filler till I get all my @filmschoolroadtrip Tokyo stuff edited which will be by Wednesday before I leave for Cuba test again for FILM SCHOOL ROAD TRIP. Honestly, it’s these opinions that make me really look forward to getting out of this country. #rolleiflex6001 #kodakgoldpushed1stop #thefindlab

My newest piece “Braved” is signed and framed!

Very excited for its debut at @buzzardsandbees Bizarre Bazaar next Saturday!

In addition to the new work, I’m also going to try a concept with this market. None of my originals will have predetermined pricing, each piece will be marked with “Make an Offer”. The goal is to encourage discussion and connect real people with artwork that speaks to them, rather than price out those who may most appreciate original artwork.
