What does it take to leave your employer and become the employer?

Well, it takes confidence and a lot of it. Your clients will only hire you if you’re confident and you can deliver.

#AMCContractorsDay was a huge success!!

Last Friday we hosted our first ever contractors day. 👷‍♂️🚧

This day consisted of industry leaders and ICF installers coming together to discuss upcoming products, share their experiences, and connect with like-minded professionals who are dedicated to the future of ICF.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. We look forward to continuing to build strong bonds and networks within our community!

Spent some time in nature last weekend with my buddy @bwarren890 and a few other cool cats. I suppose these sunsets are one reason we continue to deal with winters here.

Who doesn’t love a little farmhouse style on an actual farm.
•
It’s beautiful… and efficient… 🤫 but don’t anyone that this assembly is also cost effective. This assembly is one of my new favourites… and hint hint… it’s not standard stud wall construction.
•
The rendering by @lightandme_studio as always - is spot on.
•
Design by @bwarren890. The guy has a knack for this sort of thing.

...for it was founded upon a rock...

This little cutie patootie was so proud of her papa @stephpattyn on a momentous Pour Day. Not enough space to give proper kudos to the "Lads" in 5/5 (they know who they are) that built this beast, and to the @pattynventures hit squad that got it over the goal line.

Some late night thoughts and sketches on a PWF foundation + a slabless basement slab concept for a current design.
•
The issue with the slabless slab (no concrete - see assembly on sketch) in a basement for me is the lateral soil pressure on the foundation wall wanting to slide the footing over and buckle the plywood floor sheathing. By adding a very small 12” dia. X 12” deep hole @ 4’ o/c along the bottom of our strip footing and adding 1: 15M (roughly 1: #5 bar for you yanks) for shear we creating increase the lateral stability of the footing. Thinking this would all be poured monolithically with the footing.
•
Sandy soil, low backfill heights (max 6’) and proper detailing and the only concrete we will have in this house will be a concrete stop footing.
•
We also made the house only 24’ wide so we can clear span OWWJ’s so we have 0 interior load bearing structural components.
•
Hit me with your thoughts below 👇 How would you make this detail better?
•
Yes, this is a structural post and I haven’t shown all my control layers on purpose.

Professionals exist to provide valued important services and make your quality of life better. Doctors, engineers, lawyers, dentists, accountants, architects, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc… are there to guide you in making the best decisions and corrective action for your health, finances, freedoms, investments, etc.
•
Your house is potentially the largest investment of your life. The indoor air quality and microbiome of your house has one of the largest effects on your personal mental and physical health. Long term ownership of a house adds up and decreases your future cash flow and financial security.
•
Build it right. Hire the right professionals to guide you (a few of the good ones are tagged here). Do the planning upfront. Spend a little more to make it last. Protect your health by using proven systems for your climate zone and specific job site.
