Caught up on the camera happily taxiing after successfully passing my IR/ME skill test. What an incredible day! From my first flight on the 23rd of September 2020 to this one on the 19th of February 2024 - this is a journey I will never forget and will forever hold in my heart. It still doesn't feel real! I am grateful and proud of myself that even in the hardest moments, I kept going and never gave up on my dreams. I wouldn't have done it without the amazing support I was lucky to have. Thank you so much ❤️

Bring your daughter to work day.....

Yesterday we welcomed eleven year old Harriet, daughter of team member @garethwhite85 , to the aerodrome where she was able to see for herself what goes into running a general aviation airfield like @bartonaerodrome

Harriet shadowed her dad for the day starting off with an 0630 alarm call, followed by carrying out the morning runway inspection on foot. She was also able to help out with vehicle inspections, air traffic admin, internal radio calls, and help with flight progress strip updates. We hope you enjoyed your day with us Harriet! 👍

Barton Aerodrome is vital to inspiring the next generations of aviation professionals. We are proud to be restarting our work experience placements in 2024, as coordinator Harry Jackson-Mallender completes his final arrangements for students attending their week long placements across all our departments. These placements have seen our business help generate a number of our future employees, including Harry himself, and many others who have gone on to become commercial pilots, air traffic control officers and other leading professions within the aviation industry.

What else do you do on a cold January day than go fly a Tiger Moth? Probably more time spent washing than flying, but worth every minute! After 3 months of no flying (weather, work and health), it was great to get going and get my confidence back. Now.. if the weather can stay dry so the airfield dries out a bit, that'd be nice..
