In January, I got to spend a few weeks at beautiful @penlandschool working in their ceramics facilities. Half way through, the residency was disrupted by the snow storm that swept through much of the country. Though unfortunate, the experience demonstrated what we as artists do best: adapt, and care for each other. I’m glad to see the craft school ethos of community work, support, and learning is still practiced in these spaces.

I made a few small pieces while there, and I look forward to finishing them. Bas-relief sculptures are interesting to me, because they make push an idea that I explore in my paintings: how forms and figures bend themselves to fit both the boundaries of an artwork and the perspective of the viewer.

From Penland, I went to Virginia to be a visiting artist for the MFA students at @jamesmadisonuniversity thank you @niekosart for the invitation, it was awesome :)
