I just finished my first Major project in film school: Social Documentary. When this all started 4 weeks ago, the germ for making a Documentary on the footwear industry in my Backyard (kurla: thakkar bappa) had already been there for a couple of years. Once pitched to the class, everyone was so enthusiastic to hear the subject that it got Green lit immediately 💚! Till then my only POC in Thakkar bappa was @sahilsuvasiya_ . We had a mountain to climb from there. After visiting 25 plus store owners, manufacturers and meeting with people for a week plus in Thakkar bappa, we finally understood what narrative we needed to showcase through their stories. All of the production was done and shot in 2 days (22nd and 24th September). Then we had a Mammoth task to stream down 6 hours + of footage to make a 15 Minute cut for the Documentary. With no prior experience in Editing, me and @nikhil.gopinath_ figured everything about Premier pro on the edit table. I have to say, my team always came in clutch. Even the slightest of inconveniences were dealt with utmost care and respect, both on and off the set. This is my Directorial Debut. I knew this day would come soon, but didn't expect it to be so soon. Anyways , I couldn't think of a better topic to start my journey with in the field. Onwards and upwards from here. "Made in Kurla" is not just a shoe story. It is a story of each and every person, whose life is been shaped by the grit and might of Kurla and its footwear industry. It will be out very soon 🤍. Till then, keep creating and keep supporting 💌.

Funny how a simple Instagram connection can turn into a meaningful day. Spent the day exploring the streets of Worli Koliwada with @by_savee, someone I met through Instagram and a fellow film student.
