Officially presenting: Big Mood Studio
🌼
Big Mood Studio is built on the conviction that your quirk, your unconventional angle, and your refusal to be generic
aren’t liabilities — they’re the whole point. BMS brings an iconic combination of creative instinct, strategic thinking, and a teacher’s ability to make the complex feel manageable.

If Big Mood Studio walked into a room, she’d feel like
the bold, hippie teacher that you still remember 20
years later. She sees your unique qualities and
encourages you to push them to the max. Never
dulling your shine, always a steady guide as you forge
your own path. With a guitar in hand and funky burst
of orange in her outfit, she remembers the small
details, celebrates your wins alongside you, and has a
silly, bubbly presence that never feels forced.

I am so thrilled to share my new branding with you, designed by @shae.social!

I love how the colours turned out & how cute are the little floral icons she drew?

Very excited to be rolling out the full colour palette, font suite, and other little extras as the weeks go on.

Stay tuned...💛

Actually I came up with 11 things! ✨

1. Okay so I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that I’m currently making less money than I was making in my career - but I feel more free and happy than ever. I’m getting there though!

2. I don’t know if I’ll ever get married or have kids - I just still don’t know. I think I want to.

3. I don’t have an actual home at the moment (I want my own house so bad) but I’m so grateful to have a support system that I know won’t let me fall while I figure out this phase of my life.

4. I like myself more than I ever have but I feel like less people like me (maybe that’s how it works).

5. I still grieve a friendship that ended two years ago with someone I thought would be a friend forever. They just disappeared! 🤷🏼‍♀️

6. I have no idea what my future holds- and it scares the shit out me. But I guess none of us do?

7. I still get sad about quitting my teaching career- I really did love it and I thought I was really good at it. But I’m just a bird that can’t be caged. 😆

8. I wish I had a closer relationship with my family. I get sad seeing big families on tv like actually being a family. I mean I’m happy for them but I’m like damn..what’s that like?

9. Sometimes I’m afraid I won’t make my freelance business/dream life a reality and I’ll have to just go back to a typical job and live like you know a normal life. (Which is totally fine- I’m not hating on that, it’s just not what I want).

10. I want to be rich. I’ve always had a weird concept of eww being rich is gross, having a lot of money is icky - but I want to be rich and have a lot of money so I can live a healthy life, see the world, have fun, and not have to struggle and (if I have them) I don’t want my kids to be stressed financially.

11. I have absolutely “no idea what I’m doing”but I’m also learning that neither does anyone else. You just gotta keep livin man - l-i-v-i-n ✌🏼

Link in bio!

After describing my last workshop in conversation with the Folk School, Bernice said to me emphatically, “you HAVE to do this here!”

After hearing that I ran for four hours without any real break, and that I was still rearing to go at the end of it, she said, “… okay, maybe we make this a multi-week thing…” (once the initial fear for my wellbeing subsided, and a truer understanding of my muppetesque work energy settled in)

So here we are!! Four weeks in a row of deep dives into theory, performance, lyricism, finding your voice (literally and metaphorically) and soooo much more. Come hang in a setting more intimate than any I’ve had the opportunity to teach a group in. And come with all your questions, as I’m always looking to turn a lecture into a discussion….

Immense thanks to the Folk School for housing this project, as well as all the many others they house every single week, right in the heart of Downtown Fayetteville.

“The right people hear you differently.” I read that this morning and though there have been times where myself and the decisions I’ve made have been misunderstood, there’s a real sense of peace with these humans.

Part of what I have based my business on is hair AND human care—and I care a fucking ton. About the people in my chair, but also the people I work alongside. Having people who don’t just ask what I can do for them but also make me pause and they say, “hey, let me help you.” They give grace for grace given.

Maybe it’s cancer season, maybe I’m in a better headspace because I found a house, maybe I’m just a little sentimental and have a lot of gratitude—who’s to say? I don’t know, I’m distracting with humor now, so I’ll just say this: your people are out there, I promise.

Back to where it all began 💕
We’re even next to @uglybunnyfarm
Where we bought the very first lavender bundle for our most delicious and popular lavender syrup. There is nothing better than an early farmers market morning. Happy Early spring @fayettevillefarmersmarket
