Wow! What a way to close out our first year of programming!

A huge thank you to @grabacoat and @kqedarts for this beautiful article and feature, and a special thank you to @moadsf for including us in Nexus Black Art Week for the second year in a row. This moment feels incredibly special to us!

Head to the link in our bio to read the full article and learn a little more about Streetlight and the work we’ve been building!

To all the artists and creatives who have shown work, collaborated, and built with us over this past year, THANK YOU! My goodness, we’ve had some heavy hitters come through our gallery! We’ve learned so much from y’all, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to continue building, growing, and learning alongside you.

One of the most special parts of this journey has been welcoming community into our home to experience these incredible works and connect with the artists behind them. We look forward to continuing to create space for those moments.

Our current exhibition is on view through November 30th. We hope to see you soon!

🌟 ARTIST INTRODUCTION 🌟

Chidera Nwadike (she/they) is a queer Igbo immigrant artist and healthcare worker. They were raised in the East Bay and currently living in Oakland, CA. Chidera’s journey with photography began in 2017, as casual collaborations with their sister and friends. As a photographer, they aim to immortalize and archive Blackness — the people, the culture, the queerness, and the resistance. As a citizen of the American empire, they aim to create art that resists, opposes, and exposes the empire.

What Does Home Mean to You?

“Home is where my people are; my family, my friends, and my community. I feel at home when I’m with people that share my identities, my cultural values, and my desire for liberation”
