Representing four universities and three membership cohorts, our delegates reflect the strength of a national network that brings young Black leaders together across campuses and membership years. One year ago today, the Black Youth Empowerment Network made a strategic decision to establish its first collegiate chapter at Morehouse College, marking a significant step toward our vision of building America’s Network of Young Black Leaders. Our objective was to create localized campus impact while connecting students across institutional, organizational, socioeconomic, and academic boundaries through a shared commitment to Leadership, Collaboration, and Impact. In just one year, BYEN has expanded from one chapter to nearly 10 institutions nationwide, with a strong campus presence at almost half of them. We extend our sincere gratitude to our chapter leaders and the students who have taken on the challenge of establishing and leading chapters at their respective institutions. Your commitment continues to advance our mission and strengthen our national network. As we enter our second year, our focus remains on strengthening our chapters, expanding institutional partnerships, and creating meaningful opportunities for the students and communities we serve. #BYENCollaborates: Shoutout to Ethan Griffin (@ethngriffin), President of the Morehouse Chapter of BYEN (@byenhouse), and James Odom IV (@jamesiv_savedbychrist), a member of BYEN’s Fall ’24 Cohort who is serving as a Morehouse SGA Secretary this academic year, for collaborating with our Morehouse chapter to bring Cool Commitments to campus. Through the initiative, students were encouraged to write down their academic commitments for the semester while enjoying Glacier Italian Ice (@glaciersiceatl) and connecting with one another. Collaboration is one of BYEN’s core organizational pillars, and this is exactly what that looks like in action. By leveraging our networks, leadership roles, and campus affiliations, BYEN members are creating meaningful experiences and contributing to the culture of the campuses we serve.
