I’m so sad I’ve squeezed the last of this beautiful Stratus European Laundered Linen Check from @merchantandmills into another #AureliaTop by @bymailina paired with a #SaundraSkirt by @hisydgraham

I did my best to make adjustments to the fit, but I’m honestly not that huge of a perfectionist. Maybe next go around it’ll be perfect! What matters to me is that I feel like me in the clothes that I wear ❤️ and this outfit is so stunning to me. #sewing #memade

IT FITS!!! 🎉👏

I’ll be honest my redraft wasn’t 100% perfect! It was slightly too tight under my arms and the back strap ended up being too wide but it didn’t matter! I wore it and felt gorg!

Also @wearethefabricstore the people have spoken and need more lace like this because wow it is stunning!

Details about the rest of my fit are on my previous post!!

2026 Brisbane Frocktails!!! 🎉👏🙌

I was inspired by @thetokyobelle blue corset outfit and was originally going to do something similar but my creative brain went a whole other direction. The best part about sewing is we take it and make it out own!

The corset pattern I used was bought from Etsy @bymailina and is actually really straightforward instructions as a beginner corset maker. The initial problem I had was with the fit. It’s really wide across the chest and I think I’ve got narrower more petite shoulders so it was very much gaping (you all saw my stories haha) BUT with a little redraft she fits well. It is very much tight under my arms and my back sleeves need to be repositioned properly but those are issues I’ll fix another time!
The fabric for my corset is utterly stunning! The lace was from the @wearethefabricstore and is pretty in pictures but in person is a showstopper. I had so many questions about the burgundy backing too and it was quilting cotton from @spotlightstores!

Used @sewinggem Synthetic Whalebone for the boning. It was actually really easy to use being my first time making a corset!

Pants are my fav @swimstylepatterns Pearl pants made with @wearethefabricstore linen blend! Looks so beautiful contrasting to burgundy!

My bag I whipped up on Saturday surprisingly fast! It’s the @vintagelittleladysewingpattern Kate Handbag! I bought my handles from @etsy

Made my earrings by cutting lace from the fabric and just using a jump ring to connect it to my findings! Been inspired by @_diydaisy to give making a beaded necklace and I’m so glad I did! It was so fun! The findings are from @aussiebeadsupply but the beads and gold nuggets are also from Etsy!

I had such a fabulous time chatting with everyone it was really fun! 🥰🥰

Remind me next year to get more photos with friends 🤦‍♀️

I’m generally a creature of habit when I sew and I enjoy sticking to the patterns I know and love. This being said, recently I’ve been in the mood to add a few new pieces to my arsenal and learn some new skills along the way.

This is the Aurelia corset @bymailina that I originally intended to make as my toile. I was really surprised with how beautifully it fit and didn’t make any mods to the design. I’ve seen a lot of fellow sewists provide feedback around the strap placement on this pattern, but given that I have naturally broader shoulders I found it to be the perfect fit for me.

My skirt is a Clo bias skirt from @soften_studio that I unfortunately couldn’t cut on the bias due to my limited stash of this fabric. It’s such a soft cotton and has a beautiful drape so I took a gamble and hoped for the best. I love how the blue compliments the subtle blue flowers on my corset and knew I just had to make it work.

All of the fabric featured here is second hand from @thenestcommunity, inclusive of the lace trim. Circular fashion is incredibly important to me and there is no better feeling than reclaiming fabric and bringing it to life with new purpose 🥹
