I’m proud to be recognised as one of The People Behind the Journey as @BYPNetwork celebrates 10 years.
@potentialtoprogress.uk's founder Georgina Bobb has been fortunate to contribute to BYP’s journey as a Speaker, delivering an employability session to their cohort interested in entering the media industry.
Being part of a community that champions Black talent, advances diversity and inclusion, builds meaningful connections and opens doors for others is something I truly value.
I’m delighted to celebrate this milestone alongside the many people who have helped shape BYP over the years.
Congratulations to BYP Network on 10 years of impact. Here’s to the journey so far and all that lies ahead!

From @mcdonalds to the boardroom, entrepreneurship and now the stage. 🎤

If you had told the younger version of me, starting my career at McDonald’s, that one day I would be sharing my leadership journey on stages like this, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

But here we are.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of speaking at the @bypnetwork Leadership Conference 2026, sharing my experiences of leadership, resilience, reinvention and what it really takes to grow beyond success.

And as I reflect during Black History Month, I’m reminded that every journey starts somewhere.

Every experience teaches us something.

And every setback has the potential to shape our next chapter.

I’ll be sharing a few highlights and lessons from my panel discussion.

Hopefully, something I share will inspire someone navigating their own journey.

Your starting point doesn’t determine your destination.

Lead. Elevate. Empower. Ascend.

I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be joining the BYP Speakers Circle this November for an interactive session exploring one of the most overlooked aspects of building a business, creating value and developing a professional identity: intellectual property ownership.

Most of us interact with intellectual property every single day, often without recognising it. From the brands we build and the content we create to the ideas, innovations and original works we develop, we may be sitting on valuable assets without fully understanding what we own or how to protect them.

In this session, we’ll explore:

✨ What intellectual property is and how it shows up in everyday life.

✨ The difference between what you think you own and what you legally own.

✨ How IP applies to employees, contractors, creators and founders.

✨ Why intellectual property matters beyond individual businesses, including its role in innovation, trade and economic value.

✨ Practical steps you can take to identify, protect and begin building value from your intellectual property.

This session is about developing the awareness to recognise the value you’ve created and the confidence to take ownership of it.

I’m looking forward to an engaging conversation, sharing practical insights and making intellectual property more accessible to everyone in the room.

34 and full of gratitude.

As I celebrate my birthday and look back on 10 years of founding @bypnetwork , I'm reminded that none of this happened by chance. I've lived my life intentionally, and I'm still just at the start.

Swipe through for the decisions that shaped it.

My September highlight was being thanked in a final 1:1 session for helping that person feel more like themself again 🥹

Instead of my usual post-Athletics season annual leave, I’ve worked through September for the first time in over 12 years.

➡️ Continuing to coach executives and leaders to progress in their careers.

➡️ 1:1 Mentoring for @DameKellyHolmesTrust .

➡️ Delivering a talk and fireside chat as an Associate Consultant for Inclusive Employers. Sharing my career journey so far, progression whilst maintaining authenticity, overcoming barriers, self-advocacy, wellbeing and inclusion.

➡️ Moderating a panel on longevity in leadership at the @BYPNetwork Leadership conference with Leon Francis @nuevo.noir Sandra Johnson and @coachfaithtransforms .

➡️ Joining @SwitchThePlayFoundation Teammates, mentors and coaches in exploring how best to support athletes as humans and people beyond sport.

➡️ Preparing to deliver the session Sustaining the work: Wellbeing, Racial Trauma and Resilience’ next week for @SportingEquals conference: ‘Starting Blocks - Setting the Pace on Race Equity in Sport’.

➡️ Outside of work, catching up with friends, trying different @everyoneactive gym classes (loved Reformer pilates), silent reading club (only 3 books left on my owned TBR) and an obstacle course. @easportingchamps .

Did you try anything new last month?

It's my birthday 🎉🎉🎉

Nearly 10 years ago, I walked away from javelin because of injury and frustration. I hadn't peaked. I hadn't reached my potential. I hadn't even truly tried.

So 4 months postpartum, I got back in the gym and decided it was time to return to my original passion. This time I wanted more than a short stint like last time. I came back as a committed athlete with big goals.

Today, on my birthday, I'm proud to be ranked top 10 in Great Britain for women's javelin, with the qualifying standard for the British Championships.

After nearly a decade out of the sport. After two C-sections. After spending that decade building @bypnetwork.

I'm back. Focused, intentional and dedicated to my original dream.

Happy birthday to me 🥳

We came, we panelled, we demystified AI! 💪🏼

A week ago today, @bypnetwork’s Career Fest, we wrapped up an unforgettable session on “AI & Career Anxiety: Navigating Career Decisions in an AI-Driven World.”

The energy in the room was unmatched, but the message was clear: Don’t make fear-based career decisions. AI is a tool to amplify your potential, not a threat to run away from.

Huge shoutout to our power-house panel for dropping absolute gems.

Think becoming a McDonald’s franchisee is simply about having enough money? Think again. 🍟

Following my recent post about meeting McDonald’s franchisee Joey Antwi-Kusi at the BYP Leadership Conference, I wanted to share a little more of our conversation.

Yes, there is a significant financial investment involved approx 300k, but what I find particularly interesting is that having the money alone doesn’t qualify you to become a McDonald’s franchisee.

There is a rigorous selection process looking at your experience, leadership, suitability and ability to operate the business, followed by training before you’re offered the opportunity to purchase the rights to a restaurant.

In this video I also talk about another franchisee whose journey I’ve followed, Ian Stephenson, who started at McDonald’s as a teenager, went on to work for the business in Jamaica and eventually became a multi restaurant franchisee in South London. (McDonald’s Corporation)

It was another reminder of something I’ve said many times:

Never underestimate where your starting point can take you.
