Race report for Round 7 MX Nationals at Wetherd MX Track

Friday practice was good, and I was feeling pretty happy on the bikes. It had been a while since I’d ridden the 125, so I struggled a little bit with my flow at first, but as the day went on I started feeling more comfortable and got some good flow going. The 250 felt really good, with good speed, and I was feeling comfortable on the bike.

In 125 Race 1, I got a terrible start but managed to make my way through the pack and finish P6. In Race 2, I got a much better start and was moving through the pack well, but unfortunately, the bike had a problem and I wasn’t able to finish the race, giving me a DNF.

I then had a very short break before jumping straight onto the 250. In Race 1, I didn’t get the greatest start but pushed my way through the pack to finish P4. In Race 2, I got a better start, had some good battles, and managed to fight my way through to finish P3, giving me P3 overall in the 250 class! 🥉

I’m really happy with the result, although I know there were a few things I could have done better. We know what we need to work on now, so I’ll be training hard during the off-season and coming back swinging next year. 💪

Round 6 at Ridgeway MX Park was a fairly good weekend for me. Things didn’t all go my way, but I definitely took some positive steps in the right direction.

Friday went well with some good free practice, getting comfortable and feeling good on the bike. Saturday morning, I qualified P3 on the 125 after putting in some solid laps, even though I didn’t get the cleanest ones. I also felt comfortable on the 250 and qualified P4.

In 125 Race 1, I got a good jump but was pushed back at the start. I fought my way through to finish P3. In Race 2, I got another good start and came out P2. By the second lap, I had made the pass for the lead, but unfortunately, a throttle issue caused me to lose the rut and crash. I picked myself back up and fought my way back to P3, but the throttle issue stopped me from pushing any further.

Overall, it was a positive weekend, and I’ll take the positives and keep working hard heading into the final round of the South African Nationals.

Huge thank you to everyone behind me and supporting me. I really appreciate you all! 🇿🇼🏁
