“There’s a reason the rearview mirror is smaller than the windshield”

Training going into this comp was smooth, gradual, and calculated. I’d set high expectations for myself, and honestly, was extremely caught off-guard when my second attempt didn’t budge. The “Perfect Day” was no more. I had lacked focus and gotten comfortable prior to the attempt. Joking around in the back before stepping onto the platform.

My entire demeanor shifted after submitting I wanted to go up 2.5kg, despite the miss. Music in. Head down. Pacing the back.

I thought about how in years prior, when something would go off-plan, I’d tend to mentally lock myself out from making a real effort to recover. I wasn’t going to let this be another one of those instances. I’d dedicated myself too much to throw it away.

Coming back and hitting my final attempt of 142.5kg/314lbs with three white lights, validating the lift, means so much for me. Both from a physical POV, and a mental. I could be upset I didn’t hit the number I had in mind for the day, OR I could be proud of myself for not letting myself spiral.

Go slightly off program with me.

The last time I checked my programmed weight it was higher so … this morning I put the real knee sleeves on … then noticed my weight was lowered. I don’t fight with these knee sleeves for anything under 250 - sorry coach (not really though).

Context for Nerds 🥸⬇️

Here for a good time, maybe for a long time (if I deadlift)

What's life without a little color? @evolve_strength_southcommon with the incredible mural and calibrated plates. Great new facility in Edmonton.

@natashabarnes hoping I return to the all-black bumper plates and outfit, and gym, and everything. 🖤

Maybe it's time to bring the deadlift content back.

And just like that prep to Western’s is officially underway… T-86ish days.

Finally getting around the meet recap!

Was hoping for more on the day, but can’t complain with the outcome.

Squat - went 2/3 - wasn’t feeling overly strong here.
- topped out at 302.5kgs (666lbs)

Bench - went 2/2 - also not my best day here, my second attempt was an absolute grind, so opted to skip my third to rest for deadlifts.
- topped out at 165kgs (364lbs)

Deadlift - went 3/3 - probably the best my deadlift has ever felt!
- topped out at 307.5kgs (10kgs PR) (678lbs)

Hit a total PR at 775kgs (1708lbs)

Thanks to @danii_cbb for the game day coaching!

Shoutout to @dwaynethechwokjohnson and @toddykong for their days!
