My intervention explores how design can act as both a gesture of care and a form of political commentary. By creating temporary shade over sections of the footbridge, a simple human scale intervention, I aim to reveal how even the smallest act of spatial generosity can shift experience, comfort, and visibility. This work asks how design can highlight the overlooked intelligence and endurance of women’s labour, while prompting city authorities to consider more inclusive and responsive approaches to urban space.

At its core, the work reflects my belief that design is inseparable from dignity. When intention and care are embedded into the shaping of space, dignity is preserved because people feel seen, considered, and respected. Environments that exclude or neglect certain groups quietly reinforce social hierarchies, while environments designed with empathy can soften these divisions. Through this installation, I propose that design grounded in attentiveness and love has the potential to reframe how we value one another in shared space. The temporary shade becomes a symbolic offering of recognition, suggesting that when comfort, respect, and visibility are extended to everyone, spatial justice moves from aspiration toward possibility.
