Meet Design Alum, Stacey Truman!

During her time at BYU, her animation classes taught her the power of collaboration. She still uses these lessons today at her career at Pixar Studios where she has worked on projects like Elio, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and Luca.

“We leaned on each other,” she recalled. “We bounced ideas off of each other. We each found areas that we really wanted to focus on and did those, but brought what we could to the table.”

Hands in the Afterglow, a poster created with crayon by graphic design student Shumpei Suzuki (’26), pays tribute to those who died in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during WWII. The flash of light captures both the pain of the tragedy and the resilience in the face of trials, representing both the flash of the bomb and the light that can come even in dark times.
