An Open Letter to Jaren Jackson Jr.

Jaren,

Friday was supposed to feel like a homecoming. More than 30 of us showed up in Memphis wearing Utah jerseys to support you, because love is bigger than a uniform. You didn’t play, but we still showed up, still cheered, and still stood on business for JJJ.

And after the game, you still came over and took pictures with us. That meant a lot. It reminded us of exactly who you are.

Memphis will miss you not just for your elite talent (DPOY, elite, undeniable), but for the way you carried yourself. You embraced this city, represented us with class, and made us proud. And your family did the same. Nothing but grace.

You deserved to retire here.

So yes, this hurts. But we are grateful we got to love you, cheer for you, and claim you as ours. Memphis loves you for you and your talent. Always. 🐻🏀 #MemphisGrizzlies #JJJ #jarenJacksonJr
