☀️Opening today at @theicala
☀️Opening Reception
☀️9.26.2026
☀️4-8PM

🪨 Today at the ICA LA, Saewon Oh @saewwwon and C. Ryu @c.ryu_portal of Hwa Records collaborated with the Agency of Assets youth fellowship program to create 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨 in the Annex Gallery. This installation will be up from Sept 26- Nov 1st!

🌱More information:
Drawing from Hwa Records’ Korean diasporic roots, Grounding Bodies, Casting Dreams features a Dol Top 돌탑 stone tower, made from rocks contributed by the fellows, their communities, and the public, collected from their homes. Traditionally, the building of a Dol Top is part of a folk practice used to spiritually safeguard the village. This community-made Dol Top serves as a protective guardian for the AoA youth fellows, their dreams, and wishes for the future.

🪨The exhibition also includes a zine, sound piece, and video inspired by the fellows’ meditations with nature and the elements.

🌱Agency of Assets (AoA) is a fellowship program that introduces local youth to leadership through sustained mentorship, hands-on experience, and employment opportunities in the arts. It provides workshops, excursions, forums for dialogue, and paid jobs for high school students from Downtown and East Los Angeles.

✨Thank you to everyone that brought a rock or sent us a rock for this project! We are so grateful to work with your energy. And more photos to come soon!

We're continuing our stroll through memory lane and revisiting past meet and greet events. Our meet and greets are the best way to meet our residents, so make sure to RSVP to the next one coming up in less than two weeks. Today we're featuring our fourth cohort, which included Visual Artist @lauradudupersonal, Curator @ulyas, and Writer @poppyinthewheat.

We're counting down the days until our new trio arrives, and we can't wait to introduce our ninth (!) cohort to the arts community in Pittsburgh. Make sure to join us at the @kstheater's Alloy Studios on Tuesday, June 9th at 6pm to give them a warm welcome. Free food and drinks will be provided, and the event is free too. Head to the link in our bio to save your spot.

✨Thank you so so much to everyone who got a 5 minute reading from me today at the Honor Your Feelings Festival at @jaccc_la and apologizes for the wait!!!

✨I don’t have photos but it was crazy to see the line for my readings where people were waiting 30min to OVER AN HOUR (omg) for my readings.

✨I hope this provided the collective and the community with much needed clarity.

✨What I am seeing is that a lot of you are so blessed, so powerful but yet you don’t see yourself that way. For most of you the universe is trying to guide you to see how much strength you have on the inside - but sometimes that is so hard to see for yourself. You all have the strength to cut away from the noise and I hope all of you learn to trust yourself a little more:)

✨Whether you came for me for a love or external situation reading or asked for something more internal/ancestral - it was a pleasure reading for the community of @asianmentalhealthproject (thank you for hosting @lenachen and I last year and my oracle card readings this year! )

✨For everyone who signed up for my email list make sure to look out for an email tomorrow where I am giving you a discount code if you want to do a private reading (if you didn’t get a reading but would like the discount code, sign up for my newsletter on my website - in my bio - and I will send you that code)

✨✨ps if you want to send a little offering or wanting to tip me because you enjoyed your reading, my Venmo link is in the photos above 💸🧧

✨✨thank you again for a magical day 🎴🦋

To kick off the Fire Horse year, we are excited to offer another series of free workshops to the public! 🐎❤️‍🔥

Where Hwa Lives: Ancestral Memory and the Korean Diasporic body
🗓️March 6
⏰1-3:30pm
📍Hwa Studio in Arts District
RSVP + application required

A somatic exploration of ancestral memory in the individual and collective body with group discussion, sound, movement, and herbal tea.

This workshop gives members of the Korean diaspora the opportunity to dialogue with, express and explore the ancestral memory that resides in their individual and collective bodies.

We still start with group discussion about common challenges that members of the Korean diaspora face due to histories of war trauma, militarization, immigrant displacement, culture clashing, etc.

Then we’ll move into a series of deep listening and somatic explorations into what within us wants witnessing, releasing, and remembering. What we discover will culminate into a group ritual using voice, sound and movement with the support of live Korean drumming and a chrysanthemum tea serving.

Hosted by Hwa Records and faciliated by @saewwwon @_sunsong_

This workshop is FREE for members of the Korean diaspora many thanks to the @theicala AIR program 🎉

The mission of Hwa Records is to create community spaces for diasporic Koreans to alleviate these stresses. Our team, composed of artists, musicians, and healers @c.ryu_portal @kayla.tange @rodgepodgemusic @saewwwon fulfills this mission through performance art and facilitating workshops that facilitate connection, group processing and diaologue in hopes of transforming our diasporic challenges into collective joy and catharsis.

We look forward to meeting you! ❤️‍🔥

Things have been very busy here. I'm grateful for pause and reflection. 🌝

I rarely think to take pictures, but I've been trying to capture some more lately. I wanted to share a few visions of friends that bring me joy, and just a reminder >>> Times are rough, and the world around us is changing every day. You are not alone. We are all in this together. 🫂🩷💛🩵🐶😺👾👽🐸

I'm looking forward to future offerings, literal years in the making. Hoping to bring them to you soon. Feeling so inspired by my loved ones who are sharing from their deep down underneath it alls. 🙏💕✨️

Stay honest. Stay hungry.
