Introducing the OC Breakout Watchlist

With the 2026-27 season approaching, we’re highlighting players across Orange County who are ready to step into bigger roles and make a larger impact for their teams.

This isn’t a ranking of the “best” players. It’s about recognizing guys with an opportunity for increased minutes, expanded roles, and bigger contributions this season.

We’re starting with the Crestview League, which welcomes El Dorado in place of Foothill this season. The rest of Orange County’s leagues will follow.

Who takes the Crestview League title, and which player makes the biggest impact this season?

Crean Lutheran ( @creanlutheran.basketball )

The Saints probably took one of the biggest hits in the entire county as a special group of upperclassmen departed. Coming off a Division I CIF-SS championship, Crean Lutheran has regrouped and begins a new era of basketball.

2027 guard Amari Reynolds brings valuable senior experience and will help lead the Saints through the transition. Reynolds has shown the ability to impact both ends of the floor with his athleticism, toughness, and versatility. He can handle the ball, attack the basket, defend multiple positions, and make plays in transition, giving Crean Lutheran an experienced piece as younger players take on larger roles.

2028 wing Shane Gloger, a recent transfer from Marina, has an opportunity to take another step in his junior season. Gloger is a versatile perimeter player who can score, attack closeouts, and make plays with the ball in his hands. His size and two-way potential should give Crean Lutheran another athletic option on the wing as the new rotation takes shape.

2029 forward Dirk Slaughter is a talented transfer from Esperanza who gives the Saints a promising young frontcourt piece. Slaughter brings a strong physical presence, competes around the basket, and has the tools to impact the game as a rebounder and interior scorer. As he adjusts to a new system and works his way into a larger role, his continued development will be important for Crean Lutheran’s long-term success.

The Saints also have a talented group of freshmen and underclassmen ready to contribute, giving Crean Lutheran

The Centurions lost by 1 in the championship game in the @westmontbasketball team camp. It was a great chance for the new players to bond with the returning ones and learn about the team culture of Cypress. Looking forward to another exciting and competitive year.

Your defensive slides aren’t cutting it and here’s why 👇

You are not training the actual patterns you use on defense.

You need to train the shuffle, the lateral run, and hip turn.

These drills train all of these, and put it all together to reinforce the movement skills.

Send this to a teammate who needs this 😂

Cypress participated in the @madehoopsevents SoCal Live Event and went 4-0 in front of college coaches. It’s a great way to start with our 2026-27 squad.
