Celebrated the new year with a New Year's Eat-A-Ton. What started out as a simple restaurant/bar crawl amongst 4 of us slowly became a new tradition and included more and more people. And hopefully 2026 will be even bigger. Eating, drinking and spending time with the people you love is the best way I can think of to bring in 2025.

as we approach season 2 i wanted to share some themes you guys can expect this season, courtesy of my film camera🤠

the first one is community, which comes as no surprise. im touching on how life is a group project, and progress comes from working together and not trying to build on your own. we’ll have some special guests this season joining us on our adventures and im so excited for you guys to join us!!

TRIP RECAPPPP

this is one of those instances where it really was as fun as it looks lol! the whole time i forgot i had a job, responsibilities, left my anxiety in texas and faced joy head on for 3 days. i haven’t felt this light in a long time.

im really thinking about how to sustain the joy and light even when im back in reality. the post trip depression is reallll like its never been this bad omg but i refuse to wait until another trip (coming soon🤭) to feel this way again. while there’s truly nothing like a 3 day sleepover with your friends, life can still be amazing in the every day

that being said im taking a liiiittle break to rediscover that, center myself, do all the cliche stuff because its been rough😵‍💫
will be back with the end of season 1, an announcement, and getting ready to turn 25🫣

Meet the Directors of Door Three!

Cortiana Barnes (she/her) is a filmmaker based in Austin, TX. Originally from Houston, TX, she made her way to atx to attend the University of Texas at Austin, studying Radio, Television, and Film before graduating in 2020. She has over 5 years of producing, directing, and editing experience and enjoys working with the Austin filmmaking community on projects ranging from dance to commercial to narrative films. Following the process of bringing Door Three to life, she hopes to continue telling stories where Black friendships are at the center.

Hypatia Sorunke (they/them) is a writer and artist based in Texas and New York. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, they made their way to the University of Texas at Austin to study Plan II Honors and Black Studies with a focus in Performance, Music, Art and Literature. Besides the short film “el estado del mundo” that they created for their most recent exhibition at the Carver Museum, Door Three is their first narrative short film project. In the near future, they hope to continue their work of “creating a world that we can all live in”.

I had not observed disability pride month in the way I have done so in my personal life like I have done so this past month regarding my thinking, reading, reflecting and sharing. I had not allowed enjoyment and love for myself in a broad and spirit driven way, but i have finally recognized my truth in a deeper way that I cant help but to share.

I Am proud of who I Am. I am proud of the lovely people around me who are open to and without question already actively learning and loving (no matter what I trick myself into thinking) me in both the most simple and complex ways.
