POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A beautiful 96-degree summer day, a lively Asian- and Mexican-inspired vendor market, and my beautiful cousin in front of my lens. She has striking modeling features that draw you in: high cheekbones, a beautiful face, and glowing skin.

As the creative director, I’m always imagining new ways to shape a scene and tell a story through photography. The woman in the background caught my eye, so I reimagined her in a liquid-metal water effect to give the frame a surreal, editorial feel. The warm light, layered composition, and unexpected visual detail turned a fun day out into a one-of-a-kind visual story. We had such a great time, and I’ll always love creating new visions with my cousin.

A little after 8 PM, just as the last sunlight disappeared, I caught this moment beneath the Brooklyn Bridge: a passerby walking through the frame with the N train rolling behind them.

I waited for the train, the silhouette, and the lines of the walkway to come together. The headlights added a glow, the shadows gave the scene depth, and that split second of motion turned an ordinary walk into a nighttime street portrait. No pose, no second take—just timing, composition, and the city doing its thing.

A little movement. A lot of love.

Photographing Thelma as she prepares to welcome her bundle of joy was such a beautiful moment. For this maternity shoot, I brought the portrait to life with a flip art inspired edit, using motion capture to show the gentle movement of her hands across her belly.

I love how the close framing, soft light, and movement turn one quiet moment into a story. Every frame holds the anticipation of meeting someone she already loves so much.

One photography teacher. Three frames. A whole transformation.

We stepped outside the classroom for a special effects photo shoot, with my photography teacher as the subject. I started with a nighttime portrait, using the warm streetlights and cool blue tones to set the mood. Then I worked with layers, opacity, and light trails in Photoshop to make it look like he was astral projecting out of himself. In the final frame, he becomes a glowing stick figure walking right out of the shot.

The smaller picture at the bottom gives you another angle, almost as if the scene were captured from a parallel universe. Its grainy, low-light look adds to the mystery.

I loved turning this class assignment into a visual story, one frame at a time.

Another classic Veggie Grill moment captured through my lens.

Uncle Butch at the center of the frame with Myrna, celebrating good food, great energy, and even better memories. And judging by those smiles and expressions, that carrot cake definitely understood the assignment. Could you believe everything was VEGAN? Even that delicious carrot cake.

These are the moments I love capturing. The candid expressions, natural smiles, perfect timing, composition, lighting, and those unscripted frames that tell an entire story. Every click of the shutter captured another memory. Photography is more than exposure, focus, and pressing the shutter. It is about freezing a feeling in time.

A huge thank you and kudos to my old employer, Veggie Grill. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be one of your on-site photographers and trusting my creative eye to capture special moments through my lens. Thank you as well for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to step into a management position. Those experiences helped add another chapter to both my professional journey and my photography portfolio.

I truly miss you guys. I miss my old staff, I miss my old employees, and I miss the company. Love you guys and miss you guys so much. Veggie Grill will always have a special place in my heart and in my photo archives.

One of my favorite food memories from Long Island. I honestly can’t remember the name of the restaurant, but I definitely remember how delicious the food was.

Instead of the traditional shrimp and grits, they switched things up with chicken and grits, and I loved the concept. The chicken came in different flavors, including Habanero, Barbecue, Teriyaki, and Sweet and Sour. Each flavor brought something completely different to the plate.

This is why I love food photography. Even when you forget the name of a restaurant, a great photograph can take you right back to the experience, the presentation, and most importantly, the flavor.

If anybody recognizes this Long Island restaurant from the chicken and grits, let me know because I would definitely love to go back. #cronlensesapp

VEGGIE GRILL THROUGH MY LENS :
Another Throwback from 2021

One of my favorite memories from managing Veggie Grill NYC was also getting behind the camera and photographing food for the website.

This Mexican Bowl was one of my favorites to shoot and eat.

Vibrant color. Clean composition. Natural texture. Perfect lighting.

Management meets photography.

SAGE CHICKEN AND WAFFLES THROUGH MY LENS

Throwback to my 2018 birthday trip to Las Vegas, when I had the pleasure of visiting Sage Chicken and Waffles. Of course, I had to pull out my camera before picking up my fork.

For this food photography session, I experimented with multiple angles, tight framing, depth of field, focal points, and perspective to capture every detail of the crispy chicken and waffles.

I focused on composition, exposure, highlights, shadows, texture, and color balance, using the available lighting to give each shot dimension and bring the food to life. Changing my shooting angle allowed me to create a completely different visual story with every frame.

One plate. Multiple perspectives. Great food and even better memories behind the lens.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOTS AND FAVORITE ORDERS

This Sesame Chicken from Veggie Grill was easily one of my favorite dishes on the menu, served with steamed broccoli, fresh salad, slaw, greens, mint, sweet chili sauce, and brown rice.

Having the opportunity to work at Veggie Grill and photograph the food made this shoot even more special. For this image, I focused on composition, depth of field, color balance, exposure, highlights, texture, and natural tonal contrast to bring out the vibrant ingredients while keeping the dish looking authentic.

The framing and lighting were designed to draw the eye directly to the food, while subtle post-production and color grading helped enhance the textures and natural colors without overpowering the original shot.

I enjoyed capturing it almost as much as I enjoyed eating it.

A SWEET THROWBACK THROUGH MY LENS

Throwing it back to this restaurant I visited a few years ago before it closed its doors in 2021.

This Peach Cobbler Waffle topped with buttercream cream cheese icing was made for the camera. For this shot, I focused on composition, depth of field, texture, highlights, and tonal balance to capture every detail from the crisp waffle to the richness of the icing.

Food photography is all about controlling light, choosing the right angle, and creating enough visual depth to make the viewer feel like the dish is right in front of them.

Sometimes the restaurant may be gone, but the photograph keeps the experience alive.

VEGGIE GRILL THROUGH MY LENS

I had the pleasure of working with Veggie Grill while also enjoying some of my favorite dishes.

For this shoot, I experimented with different angles, subtle grain, and lighting adjustments to give the images an editorial feel. I also incorporated black and white, one of my favorite photography styles, alongside classic color to highlight the texture, contrast, and details of each dish.

Featured: Steak Burger, VG Classic, Fish Sandwich, BBQ Mac and BBQ Burger, and Buffalo Wings.
Great food, great memories, and even better moments behind the lens.

A little throwback to Veggie Grill when they were here in New York City. Some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had, especially all the different salads.

I had the pleasure of not only enjoying the food but also working with them, which made the experience even more special. Great food, great memories, and a place I definitely miss having in NYC. I wish they were still here!
