Last night was a real “pinch me” moment.
It gave me time to reflect on where I am in life and reminded me that nothing comes without a clear goal, vision and, ultimately, putting the work in.

I never could have imagined, when I joined the Sea Cadets as a 12-year-old, just how much it would change my life. The opportunities to learn, get involved and develop skills you simply don’t get in school helped channel my rebellious, adventurous side into problem-solving, resilience and purpose.

Although I didn’t join the forces, I quickly saw the value of what I’d learned when I went to university. I even landed an incredible summer job as a sailing instructor in the USA at Camp Silver Beach, on the Chesapeake Bay.

The proactivity, discipline and respect nurtured through the Sea Cadets were fundamental to what I’ve achieved academically and opened my mind to living life with purpose and taking action — leading to experiences I could only have dreamed of.

20 years after I first walked through those doors, I’ve come full circle. I’m now an adult volunteer and Marine Sergeant, giving back to the next generation in what I genuinely believe is the best Sea Cadet unit in the country. 🇬🇧⚓️

And last night, our achievements were recognised with The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) — the highest honour for local volunteer groups in the UK, equivalent to an MBE — alongside The Canada Trophy, awarded to the Sea Cadet unit with the highest standard of all-round efficiency in the country, as well as the Stephenson Trophy and McBeath Trophy for performance.

These awards belong to our cadets, their families, volunteers and sponsors. Behind every trophy are countless hours of hard work, teamwork and belief in what young people can achieve. I’m only one small part of the team, but incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by great leaders with the ambition and vision to succeed.

The Sea Cadets changed my life.

Now I get the privilege of helping change theirs. ⚓️❤️

What can I say… my birthday celebrations have been nothing short of perfection.

Thank you Corey for spoiling me and organising a surprise reunion with my favourite people 🥰 what a night that was!

I’ve spent the last few days enjoying amazing food and spending quality time with my beautiful friends and family, it’s been just what I needed! 🤍✨

Finally joined this trend… how did I do? 🥹
A little intro for those who don’t know what to expect.

Once upon a time, I thought I knew exactly what my life would look like. I was a dancer at school. It was the thing I poured everything into, the thing I thought I had to be brilliant at, the thing I quietly believed would define me.

And then… I wasn’t.

Being told you’re not going to make it in the thing you’ve given your heart to can feel a lot like failure. For a while, I wondered what was left when the dream you had for yourself didn’t work out.

Turns out… a mathematics degree and an abundance of cool hobbies!

Somewhere between the disappointment and figuring out what came next, I started saying yes to things I always wanted to do, even when I had to try it alone.

I jumped out of planes. I chased up and down mountains. I learned new skills. I fell, failed, laughed, tried again. I became a beginner over and over again.

And somehow, losing one dream led me to experiences I never could have planned for.

So this is my little reminder that sometimes the life you didn’t get to live makes room for one you couldn’t have imagined.

I’m still learning. Still trying. Still a little scared. Still chasing that feeling of being completely alive.

Maybe I didn’t fail at becoming the person I thought I’d be.

Maybe I just became someone else.

And honestly… she’s kinda chic 🤍
