Cabin Modern @cabinmodern is the thoughtfully curated vintage boutique tucked into Cobble Hill that design lovers need to know. 🛋️ Founded by husband and wife duo Jeremy Hollingworth and Jillian Chaitin, the business started as an interior design studio back in 2009 before opening its brick and mortar shop in 2014.✨

The store specializes in one-of-a-kind vintage furnishings, European lighting, vintage rugs, and original handmade art, all brought together with a unique eye and a real love for vibrant, bold color. 🎨 With the warmth of a true mom and pop shop and an ever-changing collection of distinctive, apartment-friendly pieces, this is the place to find something that makes your home feel a little more personal and a lot more fun. 🤎

Meet Kelly, Lilly, & Layla, the women who ensure Atlantic Avenue is its best version of itself. Over the past 3 years, we achieved the lowest commercial vacancy rate since the pandemic, attracting more than 50 new businesses; expanded tree and garden plantings; doubled the holiday lighting; increased sanitation services; and brought nine new public works of art to the district.

Kelly loves our legacy businesses, like @sahadis, @orientalpastry , @montero.nyc, @tripolirestaurant.nyc, Damascus and @atlanticbicycles , and our historic architecture.

Join us this Saturday for Atlantic Avenue Day of Design! We are an official design district and host site for @nycxdesign’s festival and we’re looking forward to inviting you all into our district 🧡. This event is free and open to all ages.

Before you visit all of the wonderful small businesses featured, make sure you visit us on our Hoyt Open Street from 12-3PM. We will have great beats by @makerparkradio 🎶 and a photo opportunity to capture the memories with @photoboothnyc.co 📸. You can also grab a map which also details each store’s activation for the day!

P.S.@somedaybarnyc is adding a themed cocktail to their menu for the day. Introducing “The Atlantic Connection”, drawing on the theme of the festival: Design Connects Us. Family-owned @cabinmodern on Atlantic Avenue houses a highly-curated selection of mid-century modern furniture, as well as brightly patterned vintage rugs and vibrant textiles and prints by artist and co-owner @jillianprints. Think mood-lifting pieces with pops of color, a much-needed offset to the boundless gray of this winter. The inventory isn’t the only source of cheer; the store is a labor of love for the husband-and-wife team, who are as warm and knowledgeable as can be. Turnover is quick, meaning expect regular opportunities to treasure hunt for design gems.

My birthday post-to-the-grid is usually a well-considered retrospective of the year just gone and the places it took me*, but today I might just stick with a real-time record of this perfectly timed (and largely unheralded) snow day at home, feat. some vicarious vintage furniture and a deluge of very deliberate #incidentalpastries (thank you to all involved).

*This list seems hard to believe even for me, and I was there: Japan (thrice), Portugal (twice), Spain, Belgium, Italy (thrice), France, Morocco and Australia (twice!).
