I have a really fun podcast episode for you this week!! 📸✨

I sat down with my longtime friend and former gallery coworker, @cadylately, who went from selling T-shirts on Etsy to building a six-figure photography business that’s now celebrating TEN YEARS.

And I love her story because she didn’t start out as a photographer.

She started with a business, bought herself a camera to photograph her products, and eventually turned that into an entirely new career.

Now she’s photographing families + newborns throughout Napa and Solano counties, running her own studios, and has built a business where clients come back year after year.

So naturally, I wanted to know… WHAT is she doing that works so well?! 😂

We get into all of it:

- Why an incredible client experience is just as important as the work itself.

- How word of mouth, Google reviews + simple booking systems have helped her grow.

- Her time management strategies for running a busy business while being a very present mom.

- Why social media views don’t necessarily equal business success.

Cady opens up about therapy, sobriety, personal growth + how her definition of success has changed over the years.

Because yes, making money is wonderful. We love money. 😂

But what’s the point of building a business if you never get to enjoy the life you’re creating?

I think that’s one of my favorite parts of this conversation. Cady has worked incredibly hard to build something sustainable, but she’s also learning how to truly enjoy it.

And THAT is something I think so many of us creatives are working toward.

Cady & her fam for a fun, sunny evening downtown 🫶🏼

Back in May I had the pleasure of photographing an evening with @cadylately and her fam during a warm evening walk around First Street and it was a blast! We cut through alleyways, ran around the grass, talked photography, and laughed into the evening. To end it all, we stopped by @doublerainbow_benicia and ate ice cream on the sidewalk.

Working with other photographers always makes me a little nervous (hello imposter syndrome) but working with this crew immediately settled those nerves. I had the best time and I hope we get to do it again in the future!

I honestly can’t believe how BEAUTIFUL these maternity photos turned out! 🥹💙 My heart is absolutely bursting with joy looking at Doug and Maddie and knowing that baby Asher is almost here! 👶🏻✨

Watching these two become parents has been such a beautiful gift. I love them more than words can say, and this little boy is already surrounded by SO much love. 💙

It feels like just yesterday we were dreaming of this moment, and now we’re counting down the days until we meet him! 🥹 We cannot wait for you, Asher! 💙👶🏻
