I knew this was going to be a good one from our first call. Rylee and Austin felt like immediate friends. Within the first ten minutes of meeting, they were already asking to see my dog. Our planning calls quickly turned into conversations about hiking and travel recs and sumo oranges. I was obsessed with them from the jump. They planned my favorite kind of wedding. The kind where it feels like an elevated dinner party at home. Where things move at their own pace, because the intimacy of the day allows for it. Where you get to know each person (and therefore photograph them) a little more intimately, because only their closest people are there. Where design is prioritized as much as experience, because the two go hand in hand. Where your family joins in on the first dance from the porch or you watch sunset together on the beach or people change into their comfy clothes as soon as the sun goes down, because days like this really give you the freedom to do exactly what you want. This is my bread and butter. I could’ve spent ten more weekends with these two and their families. This was one of those weddings where I felt sad to leave at the end of the night. Rylee and Austin, thank you for letting me in. I can’t tell you enough how much I absolutely adore you both. Please never stop texting me photos of your cat. PART ONE: A ceremony on the beach with our family. A day that felt so unapologetically us. A slow morning making coffee together followed by a walk on the beach. Hanging out around the house playing cards with our family. We spent the rest of the morning getting ready together, listening to the music Austin and I fell in love to over the years. We shared private vows and had a small ceremony by the beach grass. Ate amazing food. Drank lots of tequila. Danced and played in the sand as we watched the sunset. Finished the night around a bonfire on the beach under the stars. I feel so grateful to be sharing this life with you Austin. Here’s to forever together.

Where’s the best place to elope on the Oregon coast? If you want to avoid large crowds, have a private ceremony on the sand, stay in a vacation home that feels like your best friend’s beach house (and smells like expensive candles), then the answer is Neskowin. The L’Angolo apertivo takeover with Cafe Rowan was beyond spectacular! In fact, I feel so lucky to have made it, as an accident in the valley on Saturday caused many (including here) to lose power. We were only the 2nd party to be lucky enough to stay! A million thanks to @langoloestate for not kicking us out, and a billion thanks to @spencerivankoe for making these special dishes. I’m in the valley more than out to Portland, but I’m due for a visit to @caferowan very soon! Oh, and yes, the wines were DELICIOUS!! Thank you Francis for joining me!!! Every so often the right people end up in the same valley on the same weekend, and the only sensible thing to do is set a table. This Saturday and Sunday, @langoloestate hands its room over to Chef Spencer Ivankoe, who’s bringing @caferowan out from Southeast Portland for a two-day takeover. Five courses, a split pour of L’Angolo and Nash wines, and about ninety minutes of the kind of unhurried lunch this corner of the valley does better than anywhere. Focaccia and green garlic butter. Burrata with melon and salsa verde. Hamachi crudo under a sungold tomato granita. Duck with blackberry char siu — alongside our 2023 Pinot Noir, which is all bramble berry and wild blackberry and seems to have been waiting for exactly this plate. Vanilla panna cotta and roasted peaches to finish, with the Artist Series Rosé. Saturday, August 8 & Sunday, August 9 · seatings 10am–4pm · $65, Nash members $40. Reservations on Tock — link in bio. Earlier this year, the Cariño team traveled to the Pacific Northwest for a coast-to-table collaboration with Chef Spencer Ivankoe of @caferowan. Seven months later, we’re excited to return the favor as we welcome Chef Spencer and his team to Chicago for a special two-night edition of 𝗧𝗔𝗖𝗢𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 on August 14th & 15th. Inspired by his travels throughout Latin America and Asia, Chef Spencer has built Cafe Rowan around Pacific Northwest ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and bold, globally influenced flavors. Together with Chef Norman, the two chefs will translate those influences into an exclusive taco omakase featuring Cafe Rowan signatures reimagined through Cariño’s lens, including Dungeness crab, tempura lobster, duck confit, barbacoa, and more. As always, Tacos With Friends benefits Latinos Progresando, a Chicago nonprofit providing immigration legal services and programs that support immigrant communities.
