Bringing colour, movement and life to the streets of Catford, this striking mural by local artist Cai Arfon Bellis celebrates the power of creativity to bring people together. Drawing on the energy and character of the local area, the piece transforms an everyday space into something to be shared, experienced and connected with.

For Cai, art is about more than what we see on a wall. It is about creating spaces where people feel welcome, where imagination can flourish, and where communities can find moments of connection in the middle of everyday life. His work reflects a belief in the importance of third spaces — places beyond home and work where people can gather, express themselves and feel part of something.

At the heart of the piece is an invitation for people to engage with art in their own way. Whether it offers a moment of inspiration, a sense of belonging, or simply something to look at when times are difficult, the mural is there for the community to draw from. It reminds us that creativity is not a luxury, but something we all need: a way to process hardship, find beauty in our surroundings and imagine new possibilities.

Rooted in Catford, this work is both a celebration of place and an offering to the people who live, work and pass through it a reminder that public art belongs to everyone, and that shared spaces can help make a community feel more connected, resilient and alive.
Positive vibes only

And that is an official wrap! 🎬🎨

I truly believe everything happens for a reason. ✨Meeting Sarah at work opened the door to this incredible @lsomuralism course, and I am so grateful for where this opportunity has led me. It has been a deeply rewarding journey where I’ve gained invaluable technical skills, mastered new mural techniques, and built a life-changing professional network.

A heartfelt thank you to @artmongers Patricio Forester for the opportunity, and to @harrison.illustration our coordinator Sarah for making this happen for me. 💛Thank you also to the brilliant tutors for your wisdom, and to my fellow graduates for the beautiful connections and inspiration. We grew so much together! 🎓✨

Swipe to see a few memories, but pictures really can’t capture it all. 📸✨

Last year I made the decision to resign from my job. The experience had a huge impact on my mental health and left me feeling isolated and disconnected for almost a year.

Towards the end of last year, I applied for the Black Artists Scholarship with @lsomuralism which is lead by @artmongers I didn’t know how much it would help turn things around. It gave me the space to rebuild my confidence, reconnect with my creativity, and share it with others.

These photos are from our graduation, and while not everyone from our cohort could be there on the day, I want to acknowledge and thank everyone who has been apart of this journey, graduates, tutors, co-ordinator and artist speakers. Every person has shared their time, knowledge, kindness and support and I’m so grateful for the community that was created.

I’m so proud of what we have achieved and excited to finally start sharing the projects I’ve been working on over the last few months.

Life will always throw us curveballs, but the right people can make all the difference 💖🥂🥳🍾🎊
