🔥 UnitedHoopsQC Championship Matchup 🏆

(1) Dylan Harper Elite vs. (2) J&J Painting

We couldn’t have gotten a more ideal matchup for the championship than the 2 best teams in the league!

Dylan Harper Elite is a team full of young bucks that love to get up and down the court and play fearless! They are led by team captain Cailen Shadrick, who is averaging about 14 points on the season and can score from all around the floor with an unorthodox style that can put defenders in bad positions.

Darrien Manning is another threat for Dylan Harper Elite. He can get going in transition, stop on a dime, and knock down shots from all around the floor!
These young bulls are going up against a group of older, experienced hoopers — and they can get going too!

J&J Painting has threats all around the floor, and they move the ball extremely well! They are led by Randy Tucker, (@chamber.world )a former Division 1 hooper who is averaging 17 points heading into the championship. He makes scoring look easy, smoothly getting buckets from all 3 levels and really letting it fly from beyond the arc!

Xzavion Jones is another major threat for J&J. He is a marksman from 3, moves exceptionally well without the ball, and puts a ton of stress on the defense. And that’s just 2 of the many threats this squad has!

🔥 It’s a matchup you DON’T want to miss — the 1-seed young bulls vs. the 2-seed vets, with the championship on the line! 🏆 Sunday 9/6 @3pm!

Game 1 — #2 J&J Painting vs. #3 Kill Switch

Two undefeated teams showed up and battled it out! J&J came out and threw the first punch as they jumped out to an early lead. Xzavion Jones was a catalyst for them, scoring at all three levels and moving without the ball to create easy baskets.

Who other than Will Spriggs to keep Kill Switch in striking distance, filling it up and scoring from every level? In the 2nd half, J&J would continue to move the ball and find the open man, with Cody Cooley being the main guy for some easy layups and knocking down a 3 in the midst of it.

Jordan Metcalf for Kill Switch would combat that with some strong takes to the rim in transition and knocking down some middys. Kill Switch would go on a run late in the 2nd half, but unfortunately, the lead would be too much to overcome.

J&J would secure the win and move on to the CHAMPIONSHIP! 🏆

Xzavion Jones led the way with 18 points for J&J Painting.

Game 2 — (1) Dylan Harper Elite vs. (5) Augie Elite

In our last semi-final matchup, we saw the #1 seed Dylan Harper Elite face off against the #5 seed Augie Elite. This game was a true battle from beginning to end!

Both teams came out firing, with Cailen Shadrick, team captain of Dylan Harper Elite, setting the tone with some strong takes and knocking down some tough shots.

Tay Pomlee came out perfect from the field, making his first 5 shots from the mid-range and beyond the arc and making it look easy!

In the 2nd half, this game would heat up as Dylan Harper Elite began to create some separation and build a cushion. But Ben Alpert for Augie Elite would catch fire from beyond the 3-point line, knocking down 3-pointers to keep Augie in fighting distance.

As the game went on and each possession became more important, Siraaj Ali would be the savior for Dylan Harper Elite, making some strong takes and finishes at the rim to eventually give them the advantage they needed to close out the game with a DUB! 🔥

Cailen Shadrick led the way with 18 points, and Dylan Harper Elite moves on to the CHAMPIONSHIP! 🏆

Tay Pomlee led the way with 21 points for Augie Elite as their season comes to an end.

Game 1 — Augie Elite vs. Unc Hoops

In our opener, we saw two talented teams go at it. The first half was a back-and-forth battle, as Taylor Lewis of Unc Hoops knocked down two 3-pointers to keep his team in contention. Tayvian Johnson matched that effort with some force, converting on tough finishes down low to keep Augie rolling.

Augie Elite found a second spark in the 2nd half, getting stops and watching Tay Pomlee get going with a couple of 3-balls and some mid-range shots that seemed automatic! Caeden Terrell responded with some buckets, as he has done for Unc Hoops all year, but this one would turn into a comfortable win for Augie Elite.

Tay Pomlee took home MVP honors with 20 points, while Caeden Terrell led Unc Hoops with 18 points.

Game 2 — Kill Switch vs. Reapers

In an anticipated matchup between Kill Switch and Town Reapers, this game did not disappoint. Kill Switch came out of the gate on fire and found themselves leading 18-3 early! Will Spriggs was putting on a show, knocking down three 3-pointers in the first half.

Baker Beal would be the answer for Reapers, getting going early with some nice finishes and knocking down a 3-ball along the way. Reapers would fight their way back with a team effort, including some timely 3-balls from KJ Kirchner.

Davante Bradford brought some serious energy for Kill Switch and made some nice plays for them down the stretch. The Reapers would lead by 12 with just 10 more points needed to reach the target score, but from there, everything would fall apart. Kill Switch marched all the way back, forcing turnover after turnover. What looked like it could be an upset was erased, as Kill Switch went on to win the game on free throws by Will Spriggs.

Spriggs also took home MVP honors with 23 points, while Baker Beal led Reapers with 17 points.

Game 3 — Dylan Harper Elite vs. AND1

In our third matchup of the day, Dylan Harper Elite took on AND1, who was still searching for a spot in the playoffs!

The game started off as a battle, with each team trying to find an advantage. Vontae Starks knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half

Game 1 — Augie Elite vs. Fam Rec

In our opener of the day, we saw a battle between Augie Elite and Fam Rec! Jamaal Lit would come out with the fire and have some nice takes to the bucket to get Augie going. Kyellis Atwater would be the driving force for Fam Rec in the first half, having some strong finishes down low to keep Fam Rec in striking distance.

In the second half, each team would need their guys to step up when the lights were brightest. Who other than Cortaviaus Seales to get going late in the second half, knocking down a pair of tough 3s to bring Fam Rec back into the game?

The game was to 60, and both teams stalled at 54-57 until the guy who had been the answer for Augie for the majority of the game, Tayvian Johnson, a true force on the floor, got the ball down low from a pass by Travon Aldridge. With 3 people on him, Tayvian powered up for an AND-1 to seal the deal for Augie Elite!

MVP — Tayvian Johnson (@tajraps )

Tayvian finished with 19 points, coming off of last week where he had 18. He has been a force all season, getting wherever he wants on the court and dominating at the rim! Augie moves to 3-2 and sits at the 5th seed as they look to finish the season strong and get back to the championship squad that they have been before!

Game 2 — Kill Switch vs. @jj.painting.qc

In our matchup between the No. 1 seed Kill Switch and No. 4 seed J&J, we saw a dog fight.

Will Spriggs would come out the gate on fire, getting shots to fall at every level and giving the 1 seed the boost they needed. Rico Byrd would pick up the slack and match him with some nice buckets in the first half to keep the game close.

In the second half, Jordan Metcalf would get some nice finishes and midrange shots to fall for Kill Switch. But Randy Tucker would be the answer for J&J, knocking down a barrage of 3-pointers that would give J&J the space they needed.

Leading 62-59 with the target score being 63, a Randy Tucker steal and pass in transition to Dustin Cooley would lead to a foul. Cooley would knock down both free throws to give J&J the huge upset and
