Title: Ring the Bells (The Stranger Times 5)
Author: C. K. McDonnell

As the latest novel in the delightfully bizarre, The Stranger Timez series is out in paperback today, I'm sharing my review that I wrote last year for the hardback edition.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Five stars

Sometimes, when the world has gone decidely crackers, what you need is .. well, more mayhem .. but of the fun variety. And especially of the Manchester set-Stranger Times team variety. Ah yes, to the delight of his fans everywhere, C.K. McDonnell has returned with his The Stranger Times crew and a few extras. Published just in time for Halloween and with a Christmassy theme. Erm, Christmas. Does Banecroft actually celebrate Christmas? After all, it's a time of giving and peace to all.... Anyway, swiftly moving on.
It's time for the Christmas party at the Stranger Times office and the team are about to celebrate when things go awry, across Manchester, things are going very wrong when a book club meeting ends in mass murder and an evil deity from another dimension in intent on making earth its new and hellish home. Only our beloved team can come to the rescue with demonic Santas, blood-thirsty books and more ghosts than usual, how on earth can they save the world (again)?
Will they'll give it a go and cause a fair amount of chaos along the way. And just who is included in this motely crew?
Our intrepid reporting team consists of:
Vincent Banecroft - drinker, expert insulter and in need of a bath
Hannah - editor and possibly the sanest of the group, though the competition sets a low bar
Grace - office manager, God fearing and insisting on a Christmas party for the team
Reggie and Ox - the hilarious double act, who act as though they don't get along but have each others back
Stella - a source of unknown power and teenage sarcasm
Manny - possessed by an unknown entity, and not keen on clothes
The storyline is uttely madcap and I already consider Ring The Bells to be a Christmas classic that I will be re-reading for years to come.

I haven't spoken about this series by @caimhmcd in a hot minute (despite it being one of my favourites and so much fun!) but the latest book, Ring the Bells, comes out in paperback tomorrow, so now is as good a time as any to start raving about it again!

In Ring the Bells - it's Christmas and Santa got a makeover from hell!

These books just keep getting better! I love the tongue-in-cheek humour, the chaos, the dysfunction (that somehow functions) and the swearing! It feels like home!

McDonnell is a master of his craft and I will continue to lap this series up til the bitter end. His writing is absolutely riddled with fun and wit. The characters are lovable because of their flaws and as always with the Stranger Times, chaos reigns. McDonnell keeps the base line so realistic that even the incredibly unusual seems plausible!

Can't wait to add this one to my shelves!

The whole series is an absolute blast, the characters are excellent and I honestly can't wait to see what happens next each and every time. I'm never bored.

If you haven't read these books, I highly recommend you give them a go!

There are dark forces at work in our world (and in Manchester in particular), so thank God The Stranger Times is on hand to report them...

It’s nearly time to go back to The Stranger Times world. by C.K. McDonnell - with the fifth book in the series, Ring The Bells, publishing in paperback this Thursday.

The Stranger Times is a weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird) – it’s the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable.

The Stranger Times: Tragedy strikes in Hannah’s first week on the job and suddenly the team is forced to do some actual investigative journalism. What they discover leads to a shocking realisation: some of the stories they’d previously dismissed as nonsense are in fact terrifyingly real.

The Charming Man: Vampires do not exist. Everyone knows this. So it’s particularly annoying when they start popping up around Manchester...

Love Will Tear Us Apart: Love can be a truly terrible thing. Marriages are tricky at the best of times, especially when one of you is dead.

Relight My Fire: Some comebacks can be murder... The Stranger Times investigates

Ring The Bells: For the good folk at The Stranger Times... it’s beginning to look like an apocalyptic Christmas.

"It is a very nice moose."

Finally got around to reading the novel that facilitated a fantastic comedian's successful escape from the circuit. What's more it's been an absolute godsend having this to hand over the last month's various trials and tribulations.

The positive about being this late to the party is that I've managed to roll up while the party is in full swing. No need to wait to find out what happens next.

Bring on parts two, three and four of the Dublin trilogy.
