🔥 SENIORS MATCH REPORT 🔥 Yippers 5 Rams 4 In another match played in sweltering heat, it was another goal-fest as the Yippers hosted Latrobe Valley Soccer League royalty, Churchill United Soccer Club, in the Keegan Bloomfield–Corey O’Shea Derby. The hosts were first on the scoresheet, with Liam Lenders netting a superb hat-trick inside the opening half hour. He opened with a tidy free kick, followed it up with a calm composed finish, and completed the treble with a header over the Rams keeper to give the Yippers an early three-goal buffer. Churchill responded soon after, capitalising on a keeper error created by high pressure to pull one back. The second third saw a stronger Churchill side out of the blocks, creating several chances in the attacking half. Mark Comini restored the hosts’ advantage with a clever lob over the centre half and the advancing keeper. The Rams hit back with a stunning free kick and then added a third to keep the contest alive. Lenders struck again to grab his fourth for the day, giving the Yippers some breathing room before a late Churchill goal set up a tense finish. In the end, the late push wasn’t enough for the visitors, but it made for a thrilling and entertaining match. 👏 Congratulations to Tommy Stokes on making his senior debut — a special milestone and hopefully the first of many. A big thank you to the supporters from both sides who came out and braved the heat to create a fantastic atmosphere. Your presence was seen and felt. Finally, to Churchill — a massive thanks to Brad and the team for making the trip down and bringing a quality squad on such short notice. Your supporters were outstanding, and we really appreciated the players who stayed back for a beer and food afterwards. Shoutout as well to Jackson for the photos. All the best for the season ahead, lads. Up the Yippers ❤️🤍
