Very proud to share my first motion piece as a director and honestly… what a film! AFTERTASTE is a cinematic exploration where excess and elegance become one. Set around an opulent dinner table, the film moves from immaculate control to sensual chaos, blending high-end food imagery with increasingly uninhibited and free-spirited moments. Rooted in my signature photographic visual language, the project brings my still-life and culinary photography approach into motion through polished compositions, rich textures, dramatic lighting, and obsessive attention to detail. This project is the result of countless hours, creative energy, and the work of an incredibly talented team. What started as an idea became something much bigger thanks to everyone who brought their talent, craft, and passion to it. I’m grateful to have made this alongside such amazing people, and excited to finally share it. A slow, symphonic rise toward chaos. This is strictly a millennial-only page 😂 ——— courtesy of my lifelong @liltunechi obsession. But in all seriousness, here’s a little BTS from the TIATIA project that I wanted to share. Between raising a toddler, working 12+ hour days on set, and being very pregnant (8 months pregnant, to be exact), I still can’t believe I somehow convinced myself to take on this project 😂. What started as a creative idea became a deeply personal piece of art for both myself and now my daughter. I’ve always wanted to celebrate the beauty, strength, and joy of pregnancy, but with everything happening in the world, it can feel scary to share something so vulnerable these days. Even so, I couldn’t shake this concept from my mind. I wanted to create sculptural, art-like forms using shape, light, shadow, and the striking contrast of black and white. Thankfully, my incredibly talented friend @caitliniswright was willing to help me bring this vision to life and build this world alongside me. I also had the privilege of working with an absolute dream team. Every person involved brought their talent, creativity, and heart to this project. Remember when we used to dress like we had corporate jobs just to go clubbing? 😭😂 Baby we really BEEN aging different. As I creep toward 38, I’m realizing younger me wanted to be grown so bad… meanwhile adulthood said “surprise, it’s ghetto” 😭 But despite all of it, getting older is such a BIG FLEX and a blessing! *Clears throat* is this thing on? Allow me to reintroduce myself… I’m Lyss, but most of you know me as Glossy, soon to be 38, a Proud mama to a 17-year-old son & french-amerkcan bully baby named Hammy. I’m a proud Queer, Black, Jamaican-Irish - First-gen Canadian. Meadowvale, Sauga City raised, but downtown has been home for the last 20 years. You’ve probably noticed the weight loss. What most people don’t know is that it wasn’t intentional. I was diagnosed with POTS in 2022 and it completely altered my life. My body has shifted for health reasons more than once, and that journey has taught me that rest is sacred, grace is necessary, and strength doesn’t always look loud. I may look like I’m thriving (and I am), but I’m also navigating something daily. And I’m proud of myself for that. I know the little girl in me is too. I’m a true 90’s baby and I’ve been in this industry for a minute. Shoutout to my brothers @kamakacci_breazie & @kamakacci_juice The Founders & CEO’s of @kamakacci & @talkoftoronto for helping shape my creative foundation. I founded The Lippie Lab in 2020 —featured in Fashion Magazine, covered in the Toronto Star, and interviewed live on Breakfast Television. (Don’t worry baddies… she’s coming back soon.) I’m a brand manager & stylist, and I curate and host Gyal Segment alongside my business partner @leeleelue & our team of baddies (@lorrelli_x2 @bbg.trxuble @zengxl.d @indicaswrld @kamekazia ) — creating safe, empowering spaces for BIPOC queer womxn to bruck out freely. We celebrate 5 years this June. I’m also proud to be part of the teams behind the iconic @the90sparty @the2000spartyto parties and an ambassador for @f__c__f__s who also entered their 5th year last summer! Recently, I joined @torontorapstarss as an interview host and @mrshl.music as Publicist/PR & Artist Stylist. 2026 feels like alignment. Expansion. Magic. If you’ve been here, thank you.
