System Status: 2025 Complete.

1,692 Total Encounters (Attendees), 2 CHAPTERS, 1 node, 1 Studio Artifice production, 1 New Operating System

This year, we transitioned from a collective into a studio and operating system. We mapped the gap between the apocalyptic (004) and the ceremonial (005).

We took the abstraction of science fiction and manifested it into the reality of the operating system. Thank you to everyone who entered the simulation this year. The prototype was successful.

We are just getting started…

2025 was really about trusting in the process, but we’re still learning, still experimenting, and still covered in mushroom spores!

If you’ve been here throughout it all, thank you, I’m so grateful!
If you’re new, welcome. 2026 is going to be even better 🤍🍄

On Saturday, Sept 27, we will have our closing event from 12pm - 4pm with a panel at 12pm and a mycelium workshop at 3pm.

Panel Discussion - BioArt and the Future of Materials

In our pursuit for a healthier world, we look to our neighbors- fungi, bacteria, algae, plants. How will our relationships with these ecosystems change over time? How does art and science lead the future of our material relationships? Come listen to experts in the world of biology and art discuss the future of biomaterials.

WHITEBOX ACT I: ARTIFACT 6
THE CEREMONY
6:20P | 30M

THE CEREMONY is a hybrid fashion and performance showcase directed by @caitlintherien

Movement by Apollo with Biophoria by Plastek Pet ft. N/A(Z)

FIG by Helena Elston
Helena Elston Studio presents five hand-crafted looks that reimagine fashion through regenerative design. Each piece is created using textile waste and mycelium, merging craftsmanship with living systems to form garments that are as sustainable as they are sculptural.

Sorbet by Aurea
Uses gelatin-based biomaterials to imagine an alternative for plastic sequins. Her process involves 2–3 hours of lab work, followed by a week of drying before cutting the material into shapes.

Waste-Derived Bacterial Cellulose Tote Bag by Khaya Bio
Transforms mixed waste from dairy and beer industries into usable feedstock for bacterial cellulose production. They envision a future of bio-based manufacturing where waste becomes an asset.

The Bestiary by Selina Vesely & Aleks Rogalewicz
The Bestiary is a rust-inscribed jacket, where Aleks Rogalewicz uses iron and oak tannin to paint oxidation directly onto cotton twill. The result is a dark menagerie of hybrid animals and humanoid figures.

Red Alchemy by Annie Lian is a two-piece set, composed of a sculptural top and asymmetrical skirt, is crafted entirely from handmade bioplastic. Designed as wearable art, the piece challenges conventional notions of sustainability and fast fashion.

WHITEBOX: The Garden (ACT I) 4-7pm

Presenting material artifacts grounded in bioculture and biophilia, exploring how we cultivate, disrupt, and relate to the living world.

——

Presenting ARTIFACT 6/6

ARTIFACTS are pieces made with a skill and/or to represent a concept. We position these as not isolated objects, but relational presences. Each exists in conversation: with its viewer, its setting, and how its encountered.

ARTIFICE is a hybrid concept studio based on science-fiction, where art + technology converge to shape + link artifacts through strategy + vision.
