It’s been a while since our last Gravity Orbit update. Here’s what we’ve been celebrating lately.

In case you missed it, Ricky and Nausheen spent a few days in Coronado for CalCPA’s Members Club Summit. They got to connect in person with longtime partners Amina Kasumov and Sarah Hogan after years of working together from afar, and catch up with Patrick Mork and Shawn DuBravak.

Sherhara Burrell joined Shell’s OneHBCU initiative to lead “Mastering the Shameless Plug.” She helped students practice something that doesn’t always come naturally: talking about what they’ve accomplished and why it matters without downplaying it.

Dan Walters is booked to return to the California Poultry Federation on September 11, where he’ll once again share his perspective on what’s happening in California politics and what could be ahead. He’s spoken at this conference for years, and we’re excited to see him heading back again.

Congratulations to everyone! We love getting to share these wins and celebrate the people in our orbit.

They’re ready to put it to work. 🚀

At a recent @cal_cpa event, Jaideep spoke with 20+ accounting students who were curious, ambitious, and eager to explore what AI can do.

The future of accounting looks bright. 💙

A few weeks ago I stood on a stage @loewscoronado and talked about money like it was the easiest thing in the world to discuss.

It’s not. Not for me.

I grew up in a house where money wasn’t a topic — it was a weather system. You didn’t ask, you just learned to read the pressure in the room. “We’re fine” sometimes meant we were fine. Sometimes it meant don’t ask again. I learned math from teachers. I learned money from silence.

So when I ended up in rooms full of finance professionals — people with all the vocabulary and fluency I never had growing up — I felt like an impostor with a calculator. I was translating everything twice: once into their language, once into the one I actually grew up with. The one made of fear, love, and never enough.

It took me a long time to realize that second language wasn’t a weakness. It was the whole point.

The number is never really the subject. Underneath it is always something else — worth, safety, who gets to feel secure and who has to earn it every day. Most finance pros I work with are hungry for someone to say that out loud. They went into the numbers to escape the mess. The mess followed them in.

I wasn’t on that stage @cal_cpa to teach a room of experts math. I was there to say: I know what it’s like to come from nothing and sit in a room full of everything, and feel your whole body brace before anyone says a number.

If that’s you too — welcome. You’re not behind. You’re fluent in something they don’t teach in finance school.

👉👉👉 If your team or event wants the quiet part of money said out loud, that’s the conversation I love having on stage. DM me.

A little glimpse of Gravity out in the world.

Nausheen and Ricky spent a couple of days at this year’s CalCPA Members Club Summit at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, and one of the best parts was finally getting some in-person time with longtime partners Amina Kasumov and Sarah Hogan after years of working together from afar.

They also got to see Patrick Mork and Shawn DuBravac take the stage — the closing and opening keynote speakers we were proud to help bring to this year’s summit. We’re usually behind the screen helping these moments come together, so it’s always special to be there in person, cheer people on, and spend time with the humans behind the work.

Thank you, Amina, Sarah, and the CalCPA team, for having us. Patrick and Shawn, it was so fun watching you do your thing.

Good people, good conversations, and a chance to celebrate the work in person. That’s Greater Together. 💜
