There is truly something powerful about choosing to test yourself.

You don’t have to be chasing a world title. You just have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone, put your training to the test and see what you’re capable of.

This past weekend, our team did that all over the map... locally at the Ottawa Open, ADCC in New Jersey, and the No-Gi Kids Pans in Fort Lauderdale. Honestly, we couldn’t be prouder. 🔥

But nobody gets there alone.

The preparation happens here... with coaches helping you get ready, teammates pushing you through tough rounds, and a whole gym that wants to see you succeed.

Kids or adults, if competing is something you’ve wondered about, go for it. Start with one. Test yourself. Talk to your coach or come see us at the desk. We’ll help you get ready for that first competition - and if you catch the bug, we’ll help you figure out what comes next. 🥋

HELPING OUR ATHLETES GO FURTHER 🥊🥋

We've always believed in supporting our athletes who choose to compete. And as our competition teams continue to grow, we're continuing to look for new and more sustainable ways to help.

Competition isn't cheap. Registration fees, travel, hotels, equipment and all the other expenses can add up quickly... especially for athletes and families who want to compete regularly. We can't remove every cost that comes with competing, but we can keep looking for ways to make the journey a little easier.

We're currently rolling out a new fundraising opportunity for KAMA athletes that will give them another way to raise money toward their own competitive goals. First competition or seasoned competitor - if you or your child competes for KAMA and would like to learn more, come see Sherry at the front desk.

And we're not stopping here.

We'll continue working on new ways to support our athletes, create opportunities and help more of them pursue the goals they're working so hard for. ❤️

It's taken me a little longer than usual to write this one.

Over the course of a few days in Orlando, we had the chance to support athletes from across our extended Renzo Gracie family at Kids Pans and the Orlando Open. As always, it was a weekend full of great matches, great people, and memories we'll be talking about for a long time.

But I left with one question that hasn't stopped following me.

What do you really want?

Not what sounds good.
Not what you post about.
Not what you tell your teammates.

What do you actually want?

Because everyone wants their hand raised.
Everyone wants the medal.
Everyone wants to be called a champion.

Very few people want what it costs.

Competition doesn't create champions.
It exposes preparation.
It exposes discipline.
It exposes consistency.

It exposes the promises you kept to yourself... and the ones you didn't.

Long before you ever step onto the mat, the result has already started to take shape.

So when the match is over... ask yourself if you would have done anything differently.

If the answer is no, then walk away with your head high. You gave yourself every opportunity... you put everything on the line.

If the answer is yes, don't let that answer disappear when Monday comes. That's where growth begins.

We love these weekends. We love the road trips, the laughs, cheering each other on, and sharing these experiences as a team. Those moments are a huge part of why we do this.

Now we get back on the mats.

The next tournament doesn't start on competition day.
It starts today.

🥋 Special Kids Jiu-Jitsu Seminar – Wednesday, July 15, 2026! 🥋
@chadbrennan2017
We are excited to welcome Cassius and Cora Reznicek from Team Renzo Gracie Ottawa–Kanata to Maniwaki Jiu-Jitsu for a special kids seminar on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

These talented young yellow belt competitors will be sharing some of their favorite techniques, competition strategies, and valuable tips to help young athletes build confidence both on and off the mats. This is a fantastic opportunity for our kids to learn from two dedicated competitors who are already making a name for themselves in the sport.

This seminar is also a fundraising event to help support Cassius and Cora as they pursue their dreams of competing on bigger stages. If you're able, we invite you to make a donation—an envelope will be available at the gym. Every contribution, big or small, helps these young athletes continue their journey.

We can't wait to host these inspiring young champions and hope you'll join us for an evening of learning, fun, and supporting the next generation of Jiu-Jitsu competitors!

If you have any questions, please message me directly or contact @chadbrennan2017.

Cash or emt donations welcomed, message me for details
All donations will help these two warriors compete and travel in hopes of achieving their dreams

Two weekends. Two competitions. Countless opportunities to grow.

One thing we know about this young team is that they don't shy away from challenges... they chase them.

Hard matches. Bigger opponents. New experiences. Long days. Win or lose, they keep stepping back onto the mats ready to learn something new.

That's where real progress happens.

Not when everything goes your way, but when you choose to lean into the difficult moments instead of avoiding them.

Watching these kids become more confident, more resilient, and more determined with every competition is far more exciting than any medal count could ever be.

The future is bright for this team, and we can't wait to see where their willingness to keep challenging themselves takes them next. 👊
