Doing the Thing

This past weekend saw me wrap up footy for the season, it didn’t end the way we were hoping, but to be completely honest I still can’t really believe I made it through to the end.

I’ve spoken before, but this time 12 months ago i had just registered for my next PL and was arguably at the strongest I had ever been…

After a few months of basically living in a cyclone I’d made the decision to step away from competing and pursue something that brought me immense joy for many years as a kid, AFL.

When I first set the goal, and started to tell people the reactions were laughable.
SO many people saying “oh you won’t be able to do that”, “you’ll get injured”, “can you even run?”

To be fair, they weren’t saying anything I hadn’t already thought 1000x myself, but I had to push that aside and give it a crack.
Never wanted to look back on life and think “what if”

I knew it’d take a lot of work, and it was going to suck a lot of the time, but I got stuck into getting as prepared as I could.

Dropping ~15kg and somehow managing to get my thick ass running (even though I got shin splints after the first run that still haven’t gone away) I started pre-season.

Originally my goal was only to make it through 5 games. Then I aimed a bit higher and said 10 (was still under the impression I’d probably blow a hammy or something)

I finished the season having played 17 games, playing almost all games in their entirety.
I was never the fastest, fittest or most agile player but I was super fucking proud of my efforts each and every week.
As with anything my skills got a heap better, and I really started to feel like an “athlete” again.

I’ve said it before, the human body is fucking incredible and mine has been put through the wringer multiple times in various pursuits and always adapted to the cause.

I’m now excited for a proper off-season and to really build on the areas I want to improve.
Already keen for 2026 with the boys running around, talking shit and having a crack

Special shout out to the coaches, teammates, and especially the physio staff for keeping my body moving as best as possible week to week 😂🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

April ⚡️

In the wise words of Smash Mouth
“The years start comin’ and they don’t stop comin’”

Another month down and what a month it has been

A huge month with the launch of the podcast, footy season well underway, clients making huge progress and just about everything in between

Some big points of reflection with making the decision to go back to a psychologist, not because I’m struggling, but because I’m doing really fucking well.
Continuing to highlight the importance of wanting to show up better each and every day.

This year so far has continued to provide in ways I never thought possible, and I’m fucking keen to keep this momentum rolling into May

Let’s keep it moving 🫡
