SUMMER SPOTLIGHT | CALEIGH SPERLING

This summer, Caleigh took her talents into the professional world, completing **two six-week marketing internships** with **KDH Consulting** and **Impiricus** as a DocUpdate Marketing Intern.

**The Experience**

At KDH Consulting, Caleigh worked on competitor research, marketing and communication materials, and client projects, including **Merck’s One Red Chair initiative**.

At Impiricus, she helped develop social media concepts that became published content and interviewed physicians to create engaging marketing materials.

Both experiences gave Caleigh valuable hands-on experience while strengthening her passion for marketing.

**Seeing Ideas Come to Life**

One of Caleigh’s favorite parts of the summer was seeing her ideas turn into real-world results.

Whether creating materials that were used on client projects at KDH Consulting or watching social media concepts progress from brainstorming sessions to published content at Impiricus, she had the opportunity to see the impact of her work firsthand.

**Making an Impact Through Marketing**

One of Caleigh’s biggest takeaways was learning how marketing and communications can make a meaningful impact within the healthcare industry.

Her experiences gave her a better understanding of how strategic messaging can **educate, engage, and connect** with different audiences.

**Balancing It All**

Being a Jefferson student-athlete helped prepare Caleigh to manage a busy summer. The time management, organization, discipline, and accountability required as a student-athlete helped her successfully balance **two internships, a job, workouts, and her personal life**.

The flexibility of the Division II summer gave Caleigh the opportunity to focus on her professional development while also spending time with family and friends—all while remaining disciplined and committed to her training.

We’re proud to see Caleigh taking advantage of every opportunity to **learn, grow, and lead** beyond basketball.

Classes begin next week, and before we embark on another school year, we’re taking a moment to celebrate what three of our current student-athletes accomplished this summer.

One of the greatest advantages of being a Division II student-athlete is the opportunity to grow beyond the game. Once the spring semester ends, there are no organized team activities until our student-athletes return in the fall. That intentional break from basketball gives them the chance to step away from the court, recharge, and fully invest in life outside the game.

For some, that means traveling and taking well-earned vacations. For others, it’s spending time with family, reading books on the beach, or simply slowing down after a busy season. Most importantly, it opens the door to real-world internship experiences that help prepare them for life after basketball.

This summer, three current members of our Jefferson Women’s Basketball program represented the University through internships in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, construction, consulting, marketing, finance, and business. They built meaningful relationships, developed professional skills, and gained experiences that will serve them long after the basketball stops bouncing.

Over the next several days, we’ll be introducing each of these student-athletes, highlighting their internship experience, and celebrating the incredible work they accomplished this summer.

Thank you to @Merck, @turnerconstructioncompany , @kdh_consulting , and Impiricus for investing in the next generation of leaders and providing these unique opportunities for our student-athletes.
