I could have talked about peptides, exosomes, and PDRN, but I wanted to take the opportunity to say something that maybe people aren’t hearing all the time.

The skincare trend that I’ve really been loving has been evidence-based discourse around skincare, trust, and simplicity.

The brands that lead with this are the ones that have my attention.

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to speak at the @cali_SCC 2026 Scientific seminar alongside @zoeindigo.md.dermatologist @robynholistic @chemist.confessions

What would you like to see in skincare in the next 5 years?

Even large, well-known brands can be powered by surprisingly small teams of talented individuals with strong support systems. Nick Craig of Ekwani Consulting shares his perspective in this clip from our IBAStudio activation at CaliSCC Suppliers’ Day 2025.

A valued resource for small teams and growing businesses, Ekwani helps beauty brands navigate complex formulation management, regulatory requirements and evolving consumer expectations with tailored technology solutions.

We’re grateful for Ekwani’s ongoing sponsorship of IBA and the small business community we champion.

When it comes to SPF, it’s not just about hitting the right concentrations of sunscreen filters; the uniformity of the formula is crucially important. This clip features a “brilliantly basic” fact about sunscreen with Agi (Agnes) Denes, PhD, captured at the IBAStudio at CaliSCC Suppliers’ Day.

A big thank you to Vantage for supporting sensory education in our 2026 Emulsion & Surfactant Technology course! ✨🧴
Our students explored how jojoba esters can influence the sensory properties of formulations—giving them the chance to experience firsthand how ingredient selection translates into differences in feel and product performance.
There’s no substitute for actually making, testing, and comparing formulations, and we’re grateful to Vantage for helping us make that possible! 💙💛

Thank you, Lubrizol, for helping bring rheology and formulation science to life for our UCR students! 🧪
During our 2026 Emulsion & Surfactant Technology course, students got hands-on experience exploring how rheology influences the structure, stability, texture, and performance of formulated products.
We’re so appreciative of industry partners who help us turn concepts from the classroom into real formulation experiences! 💙💛

One of the IBA team’s favorite parts about attending industry events is the opportunity to speak to so many people who are passionate about the beauty and personal care industry. For the past few years, IBA has been proud to collaborate with industry partners like NYSCC Suppliers’ Day, CaliSCC Suppliers’ Day, SCC, and LUXEPACK LA to bring our IBAStudio activations to life. The IBAStudio is a place where industry experts from all facets of the beauty value chain share insights about why they love the industry, share their favorite “brilliantly basic” facts about the industry, bust some industry myths, educate on the importance of accurate cosmetic science communication, and more.

Be sure to come visit the IBA team at future IBAStudio activations at major industry events to participate in the dialogue.

[Video description: A student in a lab coat demonstrates the process of testing and adjusting a custom liquid blush. She mixes pigment into an oil phase to attempt a dusty rose shade, but notes it turned out too dark (berry). She then demonstrates a previous successful batch, dabbing the dewy, mauve-toned gel blush onto her hand to show how easily it blends.]
