As we close out another year, I want to take a moment to say thank you.

To our clients: thank you for trusting us in high-stakes environments where details matter, discretion matters, and results matter. We don’t take that trust lightly—ever.

To our partners and collaborators: thank you for the teamwork, professionalism, and shared commitment to doing things the right way, even when the right way isn’t the easy way.

This year brought real challenges, real wins, and real lessons. Through it all, our mission stayed the same:
do the job correctly, protect people and property, and deliver work we’re proud to stand behind.

We’re grateful for every call, every referral, and every opportunity to serve. We’re heading into the new year sharper, more focused, and ready to raise the bar even higher.

From all of us at Doerner Investigations & K9 Detection—thank you for being part of our year. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Doerner Investigations & K9 Detection aka @calif_detectiondog_services came to me to create a badass design featuring her detection dog, K9 Oliver and I think we did it! A little peek at #malibu, #califonia through that magnifying glass! 🔍

Anyone who knows me knows I love drawing Labradors, fit, working dogs so this was an absolute treat!✨

@calif_detectiondog_services will have variations of the design available, please direct your inquiries to them!

Thank you for trusting me with this piece! 🥺♥️

Kayn is officially a POST certified narcotics detection K9 🎉

I’m so proud of my boy and loved seeing him excel in yet another thing! 💙 It’s so amazing to watch him in the work and to continue growing/learning together.

I can’t thank @doerner_investigations enough for introducing me to this whole other side of dog training!! It was such an unforgettable experience, where I grew so much as a trainer and handler. This meant the absolute world to me because we started this journey together with Echo and we never got to complete it, so I’m so thankful that you pushed me to do it with Kayn! I’m so excited to continue to do this with you! 🫶🏻

I also want to thank @k9__capone for spending the time teaching me all the ins and outs of narcotics detection. From imprinting odor, to teaching Kayn how to search/detail cars, exterior, and interior buildings. I loved learning how to spot Kayn’s alerts, trust his hunt, and relearning how to throw a tug because my coordination was just not it sometimes😂You put so much care into teaching the dogs and handlers and it is reflected wonderfully. It was so cool to work as a team and make new friends!

Here’s to many more searches Kanky! 🫶🏻

Dear K9-ers, as we talked about how important it is to have search and rescue dogs, let’s also talk to Daniel Jannett who is a specialist in training detection dogs. He was in the German army as a professional detection dog trainer and handler and is now leading dog trainer and handler at AWIAS aviation services.
K9:
What is the difference for you in choosing a sports dog or a detection dog?
DJ:
I don’t REALLY check a lot about how strong they bite in their toys but if they like to play a lot at all. What I intensively check is their confidence concerning environment like sounds, different subsoils etc. The dog has to show no signs of stress while encountering different environmental stimulations. Because they still have to be able to do their jobs inbetween heavy machines or anything like that.
K9:
How do you choose your detection dogs?
DJ:
As people know what I’m doing, most of the time I get them offered if the people think they might be the right dog and up to the job. But if I have to chose them myself I want them to have a good prey and play drive as well as a good and steady drive for food also. They have to like to work for their toy or for treats.
K9:
What do like most about your job training detection dogs?
DJ:
It’s always a new challenge. Different dogs who have to match with different handlers. To get these teams together and to make them do a consistent and good work it’s what I really like.
K9:
What are your favorite breeds for this work?
DJ:
I personally prefer working dogs like the Malinois or the GSD. But some hunting dog breeds also do a great job at detecting.
K9:
How do you start your training?
DJ:
Actually we first train the dog the right way to indicate something. Only after that we start training the different materials he has to search for. At the same time we promote actively the dogs motivation to search in letting him search for treats or his favorite toy so they have lots of fun doing it. After a while all this components come together and the dog is ready for his work. #detectiondog #spürhund #heldenaufvierpfoten #hundeausbildung
