The costilla taco at El Califa de León in NYC. The simple taco consists of 4 ounces of prime ribeye and goes for $19. Is it worth it? Make sure to watch my latest YouTube video about the restaurant if you haven't already. Check it out from the link in my bio!

¡Enhorabuena! #lunitapomsky #pomsky #losmejorestacosdeNY #elcalifadeleón #michelinstar @califadeleontacos

I ordered and tried every taco on the menu at the recently opened El Califa de León in NYC! The taqueria became world famous when the original Mexico City location earned a Michelin star. Now, New York City is home to the first international outpost of the restaurant, which I ate at, and reviewed in my latest YouTube video. Check it out from the link in my bio!

El Califa de León — Flatiron. Finally tried the NYC location 🌶️ súper simple pero the meat really speaks for itself. La Gaonera was definitely my favorite — pricey for tacos, but worth trying at least once.

📍 20 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10010

ordered:

Gaonera
Costilla
Chuleta

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we had the opportunity to visit El Califa de León (@califadeleontacos) and meet with restaurateur Sebastian Schwarz.

Founded in 1968 by Juan Hernández González in Mexico City, El Califa de León is the world’s first-ever Michelin-starred taqueria. Now in its third generation as a family-owned business, the iconic taqueria has brought its celebrated culinary techniques to the heart of Flatiron.

Sebastian shares what makes El Califa de León unique, the importance of preserving traditions, and what Hispanic Heritage Month means as a new small business in the community.
