GLAZED
A glazed gaze, sharp silhouettes, glass, skin and light collide in GLAZED — a study in texture, geometry and form.
Set inside a former school building in Vienna, its postwar-modernist architecture and Brutalist influences create a raw backdrop for Austrian fashion design, bringing established labels together with a new generation of rising talent.
Austrian photographer and filmmaker Michael Dürr brings his distinctive eye to the story, taking us into an architectural space with history and a world of glossy surfaces and smooth materials. At the centre is model Lisa B., whose glassy gaze and striking features sharpen the mood, while Michael’s words lead us through the editorial.

“The inspiration behind almost every one of my film or photography projects comes from four elements: Light, People, Fashion and Architecture.”
— Michael Dürr, Photographer

WHO ARE YOU, POLLY MAGOO?

What happens when fashion stops behaving?
Inspired by William Klein’s surreal 1966 satire Who Are You, Polly Magoo?, Julia Sarturi and Karol Moreira explore what it means to create for the silhouette rather than simply dress the body. Aluminium foil, graphic patterns, unusual accessories and exaggerated shapes turn unconventional materials into clothing, pushing fashion somewhere between construction, the absurd and the avant-garde.
Clothes become objects. Materials become garments. Silhouettes become sculptural — and function takes a back seat.
A little absurd. A little futuristic. A Surrealist fashion fantasy.

“Fashion is construction, something that reveals and conceals at the same time, often existing more as an idea than as a function.”
— Karol Moreira & Julia Sarturi

ÀKILA: The Woman at the End of the World

Brazilian-trans artist Puta da Silva believes art can do more than reflect the world—it can transform it. Inspired by Elza Soares‘ The Woman at the End of the World, the album that shaped her artistic and political awakening, Àkila reflects in our interview on resistance, identity and why paradise must belong to everyone.

“As an Afro-transvestite multi-artist and immigrant in Portugal, I am well aware of the expectations of assimilation that fall upon certain bodies: the good immigrant, the exemplary trans person, the respectable artist. Puta da Silva is born from the refusal of these frameworks. It is a way of existing without asking for permission, but this choice is not merely symbolic.”
— Àkila a.k.a. Puta da Silva

For The Self & The Avatar, Antónia Rosa invited former model and fashion creative Maria João Baginha to lead the art direction and casting. Drawing on decades of experience, Baginha selected the models whose individuality would define the story, while Diana Silva, a student from Antónia Rosa’s makeup course, created the monochromatic beauty looks.
„I entered the world of fashion purely by chance,“ Maria João tells ZOOT.

What began as an unexpected opportunity evolved into a career shaped by Portugal’s emerging fashion scene of the early 1990s. Working alongside designers and photographers transformed her understanding of fashion into a creative language.
„My world broadened, and I expanded my creativity by merging it with the works of artists.“
Today, Baginha channels that experience into mentoring the next generation.

„I don’t create clones or extensions of myself. On the contrary, I provide all the necessary tools so that the model can sculpt their own image.“
For The Self & The Avatar, she cast the models for their individuality, expressive ability and diversity—creating what she calls „a polychromatic ode to beauty through diversity.“
„As part of the training process, I teach the language of fashion—how to communicate with your body. Before working on the model’s expression, I correct their posture to foster a new awareness of their physical body. It’s an ongoing process.“ — Maria João Baginha
