We fabricated these extravagant hairpieces and photographed them practically, with no AI fakery for a recent ad campaign. For this one, we went a bit more liberty spikes than mohawk. Standing 12+ inches tall, they were feats of both engineering and hairspray.

Are you ready for 𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗘 𝗦𝗭𝗡? ✨⁣

Here’s a step-by-step guide to create this classic and 𝗼𝗵 𝘀𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗰 design using @gelcare.official products! Save this post for your next mani session!⁣

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽-𝗯𝘆-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽⁣
⁣
1. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘁: After prepping the nail and applying a base coat, start with an amber tone. I love to use 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗶𝗹 from Gelcare.⁣
⁣
2. 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿: With the first coat of amber still wet, go in with a sheer deep brown I recommend 𝗝𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 from Gelcare) and make 3 slightly imperfect blobs in a triangle shape. Using a nail art brush, gently fade out the jelly brown to create a marbling effect. The more imperfect, the better! Cure under a gel lamp.⁣
⁣
3. 𝗔𝗱𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Once nails are cured, use an amber ink (I’m obsessed with Gelcare’s) to add another dimensional layer. No need to cure this step!⁣
⁣
4. 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 + 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹: After the ink dries, use a nail art brush dipped in 𝗝𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 to add even more dimension, focusing around the edges of the nail. Cure under the lamp.⁣
⁣
5. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵: Seal the design with your favorite topcoat and enjoy your chic tortoise shell nails! ⁣

I have been busy celebrating my birthday forgive me for slacking on the nail content!!! 😂 I thought I would share a sneak peek of what happened when I worked on my birthday! Motherhood is often associated with the loss of identity, sleep, and sanity however after the week I had in LA, I am celebrating the wins that come along with the title.
